And by move I mean to a new gym.
Alright here it goes, I've been training hard for the past 5 months, and I mean hard. Running eveymorning, bag work, workouts , everything on point. BUT I haven't been sparring, reason being that I don't have a sparring partner, yeah we have a lot of people going to the gym but my trainer won't put anyone to spar with me because they don't train as much as me, they barely go twice or three times a week. He says he's waiting till we get someone my weight division who trains as much as me. I have sparred ONCE and that's because he let me spar someone who had experience of 3 years but weighed 40 lbs more than me. It went well, I recognized my mistakes and then was ready to spar again to perfect my technique and get more ring experience, but its been a month already and the guy I sparred with doesn't show up no more.
So I'm still waiting, I don't see my trainer really interested in working me or maybe I'm reading him wrong. I already had the talk with him, I'm serious about boxing I want to do this for a living. And he said for me to wait and wait and wait. He never teaches me anything though. Everything I've learned i basically taught myself, recorded myself then seen my mistakes and fixed them. He's a retired boxer 56 years old maybe he's just not into it no more. I asked him to put me to spar with someone there at the gym, my friend actually, he's 8 pounds heavier than me and goes to train everyday, but he said no. To wait. I actually got bored and haven't gone for a week and a half, I still train here at my house and go run but I'm waiting till someone comes out as a good sparring partner. Any help here ? Should I move to another gym? There's a gym 3 streets from mine, not too far. The trainer there is always taking his boxers out to fight, he's a recognized person here in my city, he's had a couple state champs, and he has a lot of people to chose from as sparring partners go. But I like my coach I wouldn't want to do that to him, he's an ex-national champion. But I mean I want to grow in experience and I feel I am just standing in one place. What should I do?? Please help

yes I would recommend you move its hard to split from a coach you respect but If you want to pursue this as a living you have to find somewhere your gonna get good training,a coach who analyses you and gives you good advice and obviously sparring an fights. training hard is brilliant keeps you in shape and prepared but when you do it continuously with nothing to aim for like a fight or using a new tool you've been practising in training drill into sparring it gets very repetitive and can have a bad effect on you. if you do move good luck on your travels I wish you well

Tell him what you told us. You respect him, you want to grow with him, but you can't tell if he's serious about developing you. And if that's the case thats fine, but you will have to part ways.

Also, you can go to the other gym, check it out.
Train there for a week, see how that compares.

It's possible that you think you're more ready than you are, and that he wants you to get better.
It's also possible that you are ready, and he's not doing his job.
Hard to say without a clearer picture.

It's murphy's law....when you wait for your opponent to throw the punch that you have a perfect counter for...it never comes.
In your case, the perfect sparring partner will never come. You need rounds.
    Go.
