Yeah, but, the odds aren't great. Well, if you're not gonna bet much money that is. If I place a $100 bet, I only get back $260 if I win.
There good odds mate. 2.60 return is good...there are only two outcomes - bar half value of your ticket if you bet head to head.
I think Chambers will outbox Dimitrenko too, but are you insane?!?! Don't bet anything on him! Have you forgotten where the fight is? This fight has 12 rounds written all over it, and if the fight is even somewhat close, then there's just no way in hell Chambers is walking out of Germany with a win on the scorecards (unless he absolutely dismantles him for 12 rounds, and even then I wouldn't be sure)
THis is the reason I probably won't make a bet even. If the odds were more lopsided, I could see myself dropping some money on him. But, because they're not, I don't think the risk is worth it.
Very high risk ratio, Chambers is at a career low, but losing weight could go either way (think Byrd, Roy), and giving away 50 pounds to Dimitrenko makes it even harder to predict. Maybe it worth to place a small amount of money, but despite there's a decent chance of Chambers winning, the risk is too high for me. And don't forget: Eddie is no KO artist and Sacha is the local fighter. So I'd pass this.
This "every fight in Germany is a robbery" bull**** has to stop. Close fights are not robberies, ever. The worst robberies I have seen as a boxing fan: RJJ in the Olympics Rocchigiani - Eubank DHL - Trinidad Lewis - Holyfield Sturm - DHL While Ottke - Reid was the worst ref performance I have seen, the scoring wasn't it was a close fight after Reid probably got frustrated and Ottke came back in the later rounds. It was a robbery, but by the ref, not the judges. Rocchigiani - Eubank was a robbery AGAINST Rocchigiani fight in his hometown in Berlin. Michalczewski lost a close fight against Gonzales in Germany, if German scoring was as bad as it is claimed, he would have gotten the win, since it was not a shootout. There have been bad decisions in Germany, but nothing as bad as for example Lewis - Holyfield.
I don't think these analogies apply. First of all, both Roy and Byrd were at 35+ years of age when they (quickly) lost the weight. Second, both were already ripped or near-ripped before they lost the weight. All Chambers has lost is a pregnant stomach. It's a great improvement.
