GGG didn't run from Lemmy I have studied that fight many a time and in fact Lemmy did all the running!!!! GGG only knows one way and that is forward, this actually plays in to CEJ hands because we know CEJ wants to smack him with that uppercut. CEJ will our hussle and out muscle GGG in a phone booth fight. GGG will not become a runner over night he's an old dog
GGG will box Jacobs like he did Lemieux he will break him down before stopping him. I don't like GGG but he's not a dumb fighter.
That's just it isn't it,I mean after seeing that Quillen stoppage it's pretty messy to be honest and so many punches were missing, against a Canelo or GGG he get knocked out from that position
Jacobs better throw some heavy shots at him early on and try to get Gennady's respect. If he's unable to hurt him, he's going to be in a lot of trouble. It should be very interesting to watch unfold, especially in the opening round.
I think he should approach it like he approached Quillin, start very fast and put it right on Golovkin, no hesitation, no messing around. I think that's his best chance, take the play away and get his own shots off, act and not react.
I think he needs to make an impression early. Get some respect from GGG then slow it down and box from the outside. He needs to constantly keep switching between those 2 to keeep GGGs mind occupied. Alot of guys start well then take a solid hit from GGG and its all survival mode from there. An thats when GGG just becomes completely offensively minded and stalks his opponent before landing vicious shots and stopping them.
Lets assume they are on the same level (Which I completely disagree with) Did Lemiux not possess an attribute dangerous enough to make GGG change his entire fighting style up for that fight? Jacobs possess attributes that can threaten Govolkin any which way you want to cut it. He obviously doesn't hit as hard shot for shot as Lemieux, but he's a far more skilled operator. He's clearly faster, with better stamina, and the ability to think and adapt in the ring. Lemiux was outsmarted and outmaneuvered by an old Alcine. A bad night for Lemiux? Sure. All things considered I still don't think Lemiux is the the fighter Jacobs is.
Jacobs has problems whatever he does, because he's not a good enough boxer to out hustle GGG and his chin isn't sturdy enough to survive Golovkin's bombs. That all said, I tend to agree with some of the others here. Make it a war, and put all his chips on the one thing that he has for real, his big punch. He might just land the big artillery and buckle Golovkin first. Losing by KO in 2-3 rounds is better than getting the paste beaten out of him in 8 rounds. Much healthier ... relatively speaking.
