Should Jermain Taylor be pulled out of the tournament for his own good?

Scar - you are imo. one of the best posters on ESB, so this is not trying to disagree with you for the sake of it.

I am also not racist as my current girlfriend is mulatto (if that is any proof) - well, I am not.

I think your reaction is a bit of a knee jerk reaction because you feel there was some kind of racist motive behind it. There is not. It is purely psychology and biology even. Let;'s take an example - why are some insects red and black, or yellow and black? Because these color combinations are used in nature by insects etc. that are poisonous. So even non-poisonous insects etc. try to take advantage of the in-built reaction predators will have towards this color signal.

People have fears or even phobias against dentists or even an array of harmless objects if they were present at a time when they had a bad or even traumatic experience.

Now, I am not suggesting that Taylor lost the fight because Abraham is white. I am merely suggesting that (subconsciously) it may have caused him to fight more hesitantly when under pressure (this is when he has to rely more on instinct and subconsciousness).

Again, this suggestion has nothing whatsoever to do with racism, so please put your knee-jerk reaction to a side. It has surely happened against black fighters too (imo. historically this was probably even more the case).

Is fighting style as you mention even more important for Jermain's loss? Yes, I think it is. I agree with you there - one should not overestimate the importance of these signals and bad experiences. However, to blatantly close ones eyes to this is imo. just not very clever. I hope you can see where I come from. If not, then we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

I really hope Taylor retires. He's seen his best days already and is getting pummeled every time he steps in the ring now. I don't ever want to see this guy in the ring again.

He got knocked out by an unbeaten world champion who has probably more power than anyone in the tournament theres no shame in that. Because of the points system in this tournament there will prob be KO's in more of the fights than usual. He's still got a chance to win world titles in this tourament- he should stay in.

Too bad Scar. I guess you have this extreme fear of anything related to color which some americans have. Racism is bad, but let's THINK some times instead of just "color - bad, bad bad bad...".

    What's the commotion?

Only Abraham and Kessler can really beat him. Froch, well, you can add given that he had actually KO'd him before.

But the others, I would favor him to win. Against boxers with no power, he would flourish.

So, he can still win some games there. Only he would not win it all.:D
