Some people say Joe Cortez should retire in light of some high profile fights that have had controversial outcomes due to his poor judgement.

    1. The Soto-Lorenzo fight was ridiculous.

    2. Hattons vs Mayweather: very intrusive not allowing these boxers to fight on the inside but was very passive in the Alexeev-Ramirez fight.

    3. Allowing BHOP to hold, play act and head butt in the Calzaghe fight.

hell no, he is a disgrace, get him outta here.

I guess I wouldn't have a problem with him refing undercards on FNF

Big fights? How about ANY FIGHTS? Shouldn't all boxers be entitled to a good ref?

Notice how John Ruiz's career thrived under Cortez.

As soon as there was another ref in there, he gets clowned by a blown-up light-heavyweight.

He's about a decade past his prime, maybe more. Get him outta there.

Actually, I'd like to see Cortez break up a cat fight. Between two lions. Hell, I'm sure your two cats would ignore him anyway.

He's never been either. :verysad I've seen him show bias towards certain fighters before, so fair my ass! And I've also seen him let fights get out of control as well. Mother****er has no clue how to handle excessive clinching.. so he's never really held up to his motto.

He was the best at one point in time, but it's cler he's past it now and he should probably retire for the good of the fighters because they really do all deserve a fair, and firm ref.
