He has possibly the worst defence I've ever seen. Its like he doesn't even see shots coming & just walks onto them with his chin in the air. Hope he stays in the ams for the foreseeable future. Its scary how easy to hit he is.
Must admit to not knowing too much about him Winston.Probably seen him about 4 or 5 times, none of which he got stopped. But has been competing at a high level. As I said, don't think he's a worldbeater, but can do well.Hope so anyway.
you clearly don't follow the amateurs he looked very good in the World series of Boxing, although Usyk schooled him ( but Usyk schools everyone) but........... since then in the european championships he got KO'd in 1 round and in the world championships he got KO'd in 1 round he defo has a dodgy chin/poor punch resistance you can't have a bad chin and expect him to be a good heavyweight
Hughie Fury should have stayed amateur hed have had a good chance of Gold at rio, hes much better than joyce and clarke
he has a glass jaw I hope he stays amateur as the yanks like to exaggerate and troll about british glas jaws ( when USA have many, probably more glass jawed fighters). Joe Joyce would be perfect for the the yank trolls hed be a good addition to the domestic scene though, british /commonwealth level look out for Danny Williams ( a different one!) a heavyweight white guy in the GB podium potential squad, he looks really good, hopefully he'll move up to super heavy
He was stopped last time out but he does has a very good chin. He's taken plenty of very hard shots and barely flinched. At present, he's still a bit raw and lacking experience. However, I think he has all the tools to do very, very well as pro - especially if he continues to compete at the highest level as an amateur for the next few years.
Thats encouraging Rich.As said,I don't watch the amateurs much.Im an armchair fan now.But your comment more or less sums up my opinion of him.To me a boxer doesn't have to be a future world champion to be a success. As I said earlier, with a little bit of luck I could see Joe doing very well in the Commonwealth games. This COULD be a springboard to a good pro career.Whatever he decides,I wish him well.
