there are some vids on here of his fights post-comeback. i think he was only sanctioned in a limted number of places...but he didnt look bad albiet against average at best competition. he looked like he would have been competitive against some of the recognized hws today....not the klits of course but you know what i mean

I watched a couple of his comeback fights live...one was on a card with Morrisson, of all people. :yep

He looked okay, certainly sanctionable, but he's not going to beat anyone even in today's sad top 10-20. What's the point? Is he hard-up for cash?

Probs to him for still want to fight, but to risk his life ,wife and kids.. No, boxing isn`t worth it!
In this case he should think about the people who loves him instead!

what's the point is right, i agree w/ ya. i dunno what his situation is up there in buffalo. you would think w/ his popularity he could find a decent paying job. i know he's big in the democratic party up there...didnt earn him a favorable result in the election he threw his hat into but i can't imagine he's hurtin that bad that he would consider putting himself and family at risk

Mesi was, is, and will always be a tomato........ promoted so pudgy middle aged white guys would come to his fights, and then think they too could be fighters. Sheer rubbish.....:lol:

No, he was a bum anyway! I took my nephew to meet him at the Casino in Oneida a couple years ago and he wouldn't give my 10 year old nephew the courtesy of a handshake. My nephew is now boxing in the amateurs at 15 and still thinks of Mesi as a bum.

I was a huge Mesi fan , and was ringside for his last pro fight. On one hand i would love to see him return , but on the other I dont want to see him risk his health for the sport, especially now that he's a dad.

If he was going to continue, he should have stayed on course during his last comeback, he would have had a shot at one of the belts by now. I would have picked either Klit against Mesi , but he may have had a decent shot against Valuev, or even Chagaev when he was still a belt holder.

People hear of his health issue and they assume it was massive and life threatening.

It was actually very, VERY minor. Of course people are going to assume its terrible based off of the on paper description of it.

But you don't see Valero not kicking ass despite him in all likelyhood having a worse "brain bleed".

If Joe Mesi feels he can come back and do well, then it's all on him. He may have zero problems from his injury or it may be something looming, either way if Mesi feels he wants to fight, then let him get his shot.

Agree totally. The guy's resume includes DaVaryl Wlliamson, David Izonritei, Monte Barret and Jirov. . .which is actually enough to put him against an Arreola, Kingpin Johnson or Fres Oquendo level fighter if he wins a couple of tune-up fights against a couple of Shane Cameron level guys.
