I usually don't like to second guess the decisions of professional athletes, but Sully's career has been really lackluster for the last century or so. He hasn't been the same since Corbett, and honestly, I think it's time to hang 'em up.

All the more reason for him to retire, IMO.

No film killed his career there is nothing to exaggerate but we do know he was a natural SHW look how big he was when he retired it has to count for something!

Are you perhaps overlooking his showing against McCormick?

I grant you that he was a Ruiz-esque mountain of muscle during his brief first retirement around the turn of the century. But those times are gone, and he's clearly no longer in any condition to keep fighting. I still vote he retires.

Not this again. Everybody who insists John L. keep fighting always bring up McCormick.

Dude, that was like a century ago. What successes has John L. scored in the last 50 years, even? I'd like to say I'm surprised the state medical boards haven't disqualified him from fighting at this point, but I guess money talks.

I think he could take AJ in a saloon though... actually most modern pros considering his extensive wrestling training... Why should he retire?

I grant you he might have had some postmortem success against the Tim Sylvias of the world if he'd tried MMA.

Don't doubt him, he still has plenty in the tank. But I think its truly the dedication that been lack luster

I think one last pay day against Fury would be a good way to go out.

Sullivan tried to carry Kilrain long enough for the kinetoscope movie camera to go into mass production and have one rush-delivered to Mississippi via mule carrier, but, alas, Jake collapsed after 75 rounds.

Give him his gloves and have him fight AJ with his with both of them abiding by there era's rules (But make it 12 rounds) and I think John L could actually win.

I reckon John L would shake him up bad at a press conference honestly.

Sulivan would probably come in blind drunk with a hooker on his arm and throw a table/chair or two at him and leave without answering any questions or posing for a photo. Unlike most pros I don't think John would actually care if he didn't get paid to fight and would beat AJ up in a carpark or something lol.
