Should John L. Sullivan retire?

Silliness aside, John L. Sullivan was obviously an impressive figure to dominate two rulesets for as long as he did, becoming a public icon in the process.

 

I'll have you know that I'm a master of bareknuckle shadowboxing. It's a lost art.

 

Pfft. Licensed pro shadowboxing is for pansies, bro. You wouldn't survive with the unlicensed bareknuckle shadowboxers who compete in my underground shadowboxing league.

 

Yeah, yeah. I hear that bull all the time from good gym shadowboxers who think their skills translate to street shadowboxing. It's two different worlds. You aren't ready for the kind of breeze that a street shadowboxer can bring.

 

Sounds like a bunch of hot air to me.
