no:huh why should he retire? if he was able to learn from this first loss he'll come back stronger not only physically but also mentally. great fighters come back with a bang after a loss. and i think juan diaz has the potential to become a great fighter. i bet he will improve he should quit school if he wants to focus on his boxing career, probably get fewer units or something or take a leave in the meantime
I think the Baby Bull should drop some baby fat and get down to 130 and throw his hat into the Guzman, Pacquaio, Valero mix. He looks like he could gut out a few more pounds. His power is suspect at 135
exactly, even if he losses to everyone at 135lbs. It is still money in the bank for him..Law school is expensive he should keep making money and it will open doors in his life. Nobody boxes just to box, These are these guys careers, they live off this and Diaz is no different. Even more so he has to pay off his college which he should be doing comfortably since he did make some money already from his boxing.
What he needs to do is stop with all this school nonsense. He's 24 and still hasn't graduated from college. Now I hear he wants to go to law school. He neeeds to make up his mind. Either retire from boxing and concentrate on school, or quit school and concentrate on boxing. If he continues doing both, he's not going to reach his full potential in either area.
He should not retire for god's sake, he has only lost one fight! I agree that he must decide between a boxing career and school, you can't serve two masters at one time!
If he doesn't get cut, he wins. If he had a cutman that could somehow manage to at least slow the bleeding, it's a much more competitive fight. I still like Juan Diaz and would love to see a Campbell-Diaz rematch.
no way the guy is 24 years old. campbell was just the better fighter that night. the man can fight at least another 5 years and retire by 30 i hope he goes on hes fun to watch, a class act, exactly the type of guy we need for this sport
I don't think Diaz would elcome that idea of retiring after that decent loss against that tough opponent. A rematch is what this kid should be looking forward to.. ;-)
why should he retire? hes young and coming from a defeat after loosing your O makes two types of fighters a quiter or wiser. and he might just become wiser more better fighter becuase now he knows his weakness and he can try to improve on it. personally any fighter who has a zero hasnt been challenging himself in my opinion and cant reach their full potential unti they lose. baby bull will come back and a better fighter at that
he could retire now and have a good career as something else, but would he be happy? he would have lots of regrets, fighters are a different breed, they dont think like your acocuntant does, they crave ultimate glory. as apollo creed said "without some damn war to fight the warrior may as well be dead"
