Should judges award more 10-10 rounds? Would it improve fights?

What if drawn rounds being given to "swing rounds" were commonplace, encouraging fighters to go out and really win their rounds? Would incentivising boxers to decisively win their rounds be a good idea, or would it add more confusion and controversy to judging? Lots of questions here.

    Your thoughts?

Yes. I think it's under-utilized. I'd rather have a draw and rematch than a bad decision. There is a danger of it being used too much though. But it does seem like you never see even rounds any longer.

It doesn't really matter. Dishonesty in boxing will always be there no matter the scoring methods.
No scoring method weeds out dishonesty.

No because when you KNOW a judge will award a round surley thats more of an incentive right?

    I don't care for 10-10 rnds.

So no , I don't feel judges should award 10-10 rnds to fighters.

Yes, many rounds are too close to call, but not scored that way. That said, crooked or biased judges are still going to score fights crooked and biased.

Maybe what's needed is boxing juries. A larger panel of judges drawn from the whole boxing industry and approved by camps of both fighters.

Or go back to 15 rounds.

This is just a thought, and I haven't thought it through all the way, but how about if rounds where judges differ automatically become even rounds when tallying them up?

I think ultimately it would lead to more draws. Not sure if thats what the boxing public wants. But I think it might give more accurate results in fights.

To me, you can score as many even rounds as you like, as long as you have the right guy ahead at the end. There is just no perfect way to score a fight, 10 point must is flawed, as is round by round. Don't really know the answer. Wish that I did:aaaaa:

When i started scoring i used the 10-10 round a lot, but i stoped because judges never used it.

Yes - in rounds were there is no clear winner, perhaps more 10-10 rounds would be good.

Either that or more 10-8 rounds for being the decisive victor in a round.

I think they should use open scoring more...not sure if it curves bad scoring but I think it at least gives the fighter who is down on the card the confirmation to step it up and I think it could improve the quality of fights too....maybe.

yes, there many game rounds were the players don't do anything significant and it will give a clearer picture of the result. In the case of championship fights though, I would prefer a 10-10 to be 10-9 in favor of the champion which is implying that he is defending well by making the challenger hesitant to win for the belt. it is a given that champions are defending their belt hence, they may not initiate attack and be in defensive mode even through out the whole fight. It is up to the challenger to make the fight and dominate to become recognized as the new champion.

I think with the 3 scoring criteria you can always find a winner

Most score solely on effective aggression.
if thats even then ring generalship and defense can easy find you a winner
