I'm not one for knee jerk reactions but after seeing that, I really think Khan should retire. (For health reasons if anything) Where does he go from he? His ego (& his teams) are to rampant to drop to undercards. For that same reason I doubt he'll come back over to England to try & rebuild here. He hasn't learnt a bean from Freddie Roach. Those Wild Card gym wars have not done him any good He still has no inside game, he still leaves his chin out there during an exchange He has no survival instincts He can't follow instructions (Roach, 2,3 maximum 4 punch combinations. Get in, get out, don't engage) He has minimal power (speed yes, power no) His chin is below average. Khan will still carry those deficiencies up to 147 where the fighters bang even harder..... I'm actually worried for him. Malignaggi has been talking about avenging the Hatton defeat. Perhaps that's a route Khan could go down but apart from that, I don't know. Ortiz is a very bad idea for those calling that. Ortiz is way to big & strong for Khan. Brook perhaps is an option but I think that's to risky for either fighter. If Khan lost to Brook then it is over for him. If Brook loses to Khan then his credentials to be a real player at 147 would be seriously questioned. Where does Khan go next?
Brook has to much power for Khan. Malignaggi rematch sure as Malignaggi can't crack an egg. Retirement should be a serious option as at the elite level Khan will get knocked out worse again. He is a big head who has never been what he thinks he is.
hell no the guy's JUST 25-26 yrs old, also what's 2-3 losses in boxing, IMO he needs to get back with Ariza and keep on drinking them Ariza shakes that seem to help him so much.
LOL was thinking the same thing, Khans mysteriously improved chin, abandoned him at the same time as Ariza!...coincidence...i doubt it!
I don't think he should really retire, but i admit i have no clue where he can go from here, it's not like last time because at least then he was really only known in the uk and Frank pulled a masterstroke getting him Barerra and then Kotelnik. If Khan stays with GBP in america, now that he's not a cash cow, he is going to be matched HARD. The kid is just so vulnerable, and he doesn't have either the inside game and physical strength to smother a guy when in trouble, or the power to keep guys honest.
Oh give over. How many shots did Khan eat in the fourth round before he finally went down again? Boy's too brave for his own good coz he won't run round the ring when he should.
There is only one place he goes, Team Khan will be on the phone to Paulie Malignaggi by 9am tomorrow morning, offering him the rematch with Khan. Paulie is on record as saying he wants to avenge all his losses, Khan moves up gets his crack at the world title, either uk or msg in November. If Paulie knocks him out its a nice pay check to finish on, if Khan prevails, he has a belt at welterweight and off we all go again Simples :bbb:bbb
No he should eat humble pie and train with one of the Mayweather brothers and learn how to block punches that sparring session on beyond the ropes when Roach was away was pathetic
I think he should have a big domestic fight here in the UK and then retire. I can't see how the guy can keep going against A or even B level guys now they know how to knock him out.
I don't think he should retire. He's a world class fighter, he just to improve his defence, stop looking past fighters, eat humble pie and re hire alex ariza. And let's face it....avoid big punchers like the plague.
How did OP fit so much bollocks into one post? Anyway no. I feel he could deal with what he did after the Prescott fight. Take an extended break and find a new direction for a new career. Look for a new trainer: be open minded as to who he feels he can improve him, Diaz, Steward, Booth, Richardson. He definately has improved much under Roach, going from British to world level. However he really seems to have reached a plateau and change is for the best in this instance.
**** no he shouldn't retire. This kind of talk is just simply ridiculous. Lets be real Garcia is a very pedestrian fighter. Khan as had been known since the Prescott fight is a fragile fighter and thus ANY fight he's in can change on a dime primarily because of Khans style. The problem i'm seeing here is Roach, as well as Khans expectations. Khan has wanted to run before he could walk since his career began. He left Frank and to his credit climbed a mountain in spectacular fashion on his way to winning a world title. Personally i never thought Khan would be mixing it up with the best in the world. All that said Khan has to go back to the drawing board. He needs to change his entire mindset. As currently he has a D- boxing IQ. After being hurt that bad by a counter left hook that caught his equilibrium he was back on his feet as though he was a prime Ali. His coaches should have been screaming at him to take a knee, and bide his time. Then when he got up the dude went straight back in the phone booth like he was a prime Chavez?!?!!? He has a chin made of sterling China! WTF was he doing? The kid has tons and tons of heart but **** me he fights dumb. Learn to raise that left hand instead of shipping right hooks. Learn to box behind the jab and throw rapier combinations to keep his opponent honest. Learn to not pull back ala Zab Judah and at least move to the left or right and use the ring better. Bottom line is his defence is just too porous. And most of all develop a higher ring IQ. In most cases Khan is the reason for his losses. He's better than Garcia. His first priority should be a rematch so he can shut his punk Dad up.
Dude, Khan lacks the intelligence and instinct to fight smart. When hurt, he blocks punches with his chin instead, or runs around the ring with his hands down. I'm not sure he can change this. Those habits are something that programmed in him to do naturally. Khan shouldn't retire IMO, he is still young. I'm a bit worried about the punishment Khan is shipping at this stage of his career though. These sort of losses break you. He went down real hard tonight and it may have knocked the stuffing out of him. Those shots were sickening. He has a massive heart Khan, no one can question his heart to fight, but his chin says otherwise. He just couldn't clear his head.
The way Khan reacts indicates that he's likely suffering brain damage or some kind of semi-concussive trauma. Bayless shouldn't have let it continue from the first KD. But Khans heart and will, as well as him beckoning Garcia inside, shows how much balls the kid had. If Khan wants to be in this for a while defence has to be an absolute priority.
Khan doesnt just get stopped he gets seriously hurt, this sport is too dangerous for someone who responds to punches like that.
