There is no demand for a rematch based off the first fight. Kovalev fought like he lost his punching power and he can't take a punch at all.

Not true. Canelo's victory over a guy who is shot and can't go 6 rounds even at low pace is not impressive.

Of course he should. Everyone knows boxers, especially old shot ones, only get better with age. More importantly, does anyone really want to see Kov get KOd again? Will they pay for the privilege?

I strongly suspect Canelo’s team fo push hard to draw the ghost of Andre Ward out of the old folks home. Ward is arrogant enough to take the hate if the money is right. Perfect opponent for ginger boy, big name, diminished skills, big name.

Who knows what Ward has left in the tank but Canelo’s fans don’t seem to care. Another big name on the resume. If this fight goes down, I predict a KO for Canelo. Ward could never punch and he’s not going to be allowed to fight dirty against the anointed queen of boxing. The frenzy among Canelo fans will be unbearable.

If he’s serious about LH, he should try to get a Beterbiev fight. That’s the one I want to see. Prime LH and belt holder. Don’t hold your breath.

No. I don't care to see him try to "Paulie Malignaggi" his way to a win w/ only a jab and movement.

    No!!

If you think he fought tentative the first time, he’ll be fighting terrified the 2nd time around after that brutal KO. The result would be another KO.

This, any top fighter will walk right through Kovalev at this point without showing any respect.

Only an ignorant fool would consider moving up two weight divisions and scoring a KO against a Champion "not impressive".

Not if the champion is shot and doesn't fight back.
Also only an ignorant fool would support a convicted cheater.

Oh yeah, he didn't fight back at all. Which is why the majority had him leading in the fight at the time of stoppage. Hell even I had it a draw going into the 11th. Kovalev was winning rounds by only staring at Alvarez. You are such an idiot, I wouldn't be surprised if you're related to @LANCE99.

Kovalev has officially entered/was catapulted into post prime status. He wasn't going to beat the actual tops in the division anyway. Now he's in the position that everyone at LHW (and damn near everyone at the weight are hitters), is going to attempt to test his chin and durability in every fight that he signs for. Whether he wins or not, those type of fights and if the opponents believe they can get you outta there even if they're behind on the cards, all of his fights are gonna be de facto wars from this point on. Kovalev's career is effectively over. There's no point in even seeking a rematch because all that will be remembered is Canelo (however dubiously) was ahead on the scorecards.............and then stopped his opponent. Kovalev is now simply a footnote in Canelo's dossier. Canelo doesn't need him anymore.

One fight has effectively set the stage for the rest of Kovalev's career (however long that is)
