It's obvious that he doesn't want to sacrifice muscle and size for stamina, so it looks like he's done in boxing, but he does have power and considering he could pick up Mendoza like nothing and he's built like a truck, he has potential to be a good wrestler.

With his power and athleticsm, and his urge to get on the floor with another man, I think if he started focusing on BJJ or Judo or some other form of ground fighting, I think he has potential to be a huge star in UFC.

His striking skills would be vastly superior to the majority of fighters and if he could utilize his strength and turn it into a ground game, we might be looking at the next champ.

If Lacy had been trained in MMA from a young age he'd probably have made a very good MMA fighter .

But he's a boxer , he's best chance at making money is from boxing and he'd never be good enough for the UFC .

Lacy may not get a steady pay check from boxing, but if he gets a Taylor fight he'll be earning quite a lot of money . Considering he's a former World champion and fought on HBO in his 2 fights after losing a unification match I'd say he's not too short on cash .

I don't know if I necessarily believe this. He's already a natural athlete, you can tell that so much by looking at him, and his handspeed and power.

And from the way he was throwing Mendoza around like a rag doll, those muscles aren't just for show.

I think if he's dedicated enough and learns to block a takedown and learns some basic ground skills, he could start fighting in about 8 months and be dominant in 2 years.

    Why?

    He's a natural athlete.

He's very strong, and he's short and stocky which makes him a difficult target to take down and slam.

He already has striking going for him, and if he can get a good coach, he would make a good wrestler.

I think Lacy could do better.

Just think about it. ESB's very own Sweat Pea has been in MMA for about 5 years and he weighs about 170 lbs, but even without any training Lacy would pick him up and slam him like a *****.

And Sweat Pea has 5 years of training!

And if Sweat Pea decides to make it stand up, he would have a broken jaw.

He's 31, at that age you don't teach an old dog(at least one like Lacy) new tricks . He's only going to decline more anyway .

Mendoza isn't even a particulary strong guy by boxing standards, compared to MMA guys who train for grappling etc he's absolutely nothing .

If it was that easy to make the transition everyone would be doing it(even though there is much more money in boxing at the top level)

    I didn't realize that he was 31.

It's not that Mendoza is strong necessarily, although he doesn't look to be weak, it's just the fact that Lacy was throwing him around like he was nothing.
