Should Larry Holmes have treated Muhammad Ali like Jake Paul treated Mike Tyson?

I was about to say that!

 

Absolutely not, The Tyson/paul fight was a farce put together strictly to separate the rubes from their $$. Anyone buying that fight, thinking it was going to be a real contest, deserved to get fleeced. The Holmes/Ali fight was a legit sanctioned bout for the World Heavyweight Chamionship. Most of the people tuning in, or going to that fight, had no idea how washed up Ali really was a that point.

 

Excellent point about Mike’s health scare - at the time I thought that def. put paid to any bout vs Paul but yet it still went ahead……

After I posted references to the pre dressing room vision of Holy/Lewis with Mike and Mike partying with Jake Paul after their fight (and I only did so on this board) - a few days later I was scrolling through some YouTube shorts and, lo and behold, clips relating to both incidents presented to me - not one after another but separated by several random clips in between….

Big Brother is watching and absorbing….lol.

I’ve actually had similar happen when I’ve merely been discussing a certain subject within proximity to my phone - relevant vids generating as if my phone was eavesdropping…..

I swear I’m not a flat earther and I DO believe we landed on the moon…but, c’mon..…

A former very high ranking local bikie who i met thru work, told me/claimed a handful of years ago that the cops could hack into things like smart TV's and listen to, our in some cases watch, you in your living room. No idea personally but i wasn't going to tell him he was talking crap lol. He also claimed they sent a gronk back (from jail) to them wearing an ankle monitor that was a listening device. Lastly, he claimed the cops have a massive drone they utilize at times, i think he mentioned spying.

Mike Tyson wasn't trying to win.

Ali was trying to win but he was not well healthwise. Holmes could have blasted Ali out but didnt want to do that. Larry with good intentions probably made it worse by pro longing the torture.

As opposed to how he dealt with Marvis Frazier in 1983. Holmes trainer Eddie Futch saw Marvis at the weigh in and noted he was as "tight as a drum". He was against Joe putting Marvis in there with Holmes and told Joe about it.
Eddie told Holmes point blank "ive known this kid since he was 10 years old, he's like a son to me. I dont want this kid hurt! The first mistake he makes end it".

That is probably the best way to handle it.

 

Yeah, I’ve had same happen before but this was anchored in just those two posts here and the turnaround feedback on YouTube was about 1 day. Crazy. Lol, true, not good practice to tell a bikie that they’re talking out of their proverbial - especially if they go by the name Toe Cutter or Leg Breaker. .

 

He was one of their enforcers, but actually a top bloke. He'd nabbed himself a standard type of job. I think he ended up quitting after a few months as it didn't pay enough. They'd long been disbanded in QLD under the new laws but obviously they'd still get a bit done lol.
