I'm not sure any serious british boxing fan says LL should be rated above Ali, so stop beaing a complete ***** labelling us all in 1 bracket. I could just as easily say 'I'm sure some American fans fate PBF in the top 10 GOAT, so all Americans are ******'. Its a stupid thing to say. Anyway, Lennox was an exceptional HW and i'd favour him over any HW in history h2h, execpt Ali and perhaps Holmes (possibly had a better jab). Lennox is in my top 5 HWs, Ali pips Joe Louis to my number 1 spot
Frazier had MEDIUM power, comparable to Mike Moorer, Evander, etc......he had PISSPOOR defense, coming straight forward throwing WINGING hooks behind a SOFT jab. Any BIG HW, including Bclass guys like Fury, Dimitrenko, Smith, etc etc etc would utterly annihilate him. Smaller HW's with speed like Byrd, Haye, or sluggers like Tyson, Ike, Tua etc etc etc would knock him into next year. He fought similar to a young Tyson, w/o the explosiveness of course, and w/o the defense or the power. This is a recipe for a KO, even though Joe's chin was above average. If you watch his big wins, and watch his big wins fights, and you still have Joe in your top 30 ATG HW list, you're deluded or strictly a NOSTALGIA man who can't let go of the past. Don't be bothered by the criticism though, I was once a NOSTALGIA man, and refused to believe Tyson was better than Holmes, but then I got my grandpas Beta and VHS collection and started to actually understand how fights are won and lost, and then I realized that Holmes wasn't better than the 22 yo Tyson, he was simply my favorite fighter b/c I grew up watching him from my grandpas throw rug in front of his 60 inch projection tv.:yep
People are horrible at judging anything their opinions bias can easily be swayed in different dirrections. Look at most score cards in boxing for instance, the scores are often all over the place. Thats cause humans just can't judge things without bias. In the 2nd Hoyfield fight everyones judging was scued by the first fight. People thought Lewis deserved to win the second fight no matter what. Even if it was only in their subconsious it effected their perception.
Much as I love Lewis, no. Lewis is somewhere 2-4. Frazier, Foreman, Liston, Norton, Patterson- what a list.
omghahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha:rofl:roflhahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaha:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl.
for a 60s/70s heavyweight these are great wins. But lewis would not get any credit for them if the happened in the 90s or 200s (except foreman). Patterson was 190lb, cruiserweights fight bigger men than that, liston was old, he was probably 36, his actual date of birth is unknown. Frazier was only the size of a cruiserweight. More recent heavyweight greats are more likely to be on the wrong end of an upset because they are up against much bigger and stronger opponents. If Ali fought 6'3 230lb+ opponents every fight the chances of him being caught and knocked out would be much higher. Which is why that has happened to tyson wlad and lewis, if they were fighting the majority of their careers against 6' 200lb hws in the 1970s they would be much less likely to have been knocked out
i'm not entering who is better but everyone goes on about LL 2 losses but every great has had bad fights too but at least he rectified them. cassius clay had the cooper fight for 1, was knocked down, severly hurt and his trainer used delaying tactics at the end of the round, and cooper was less than 200 pounds. every great has had under par performances but some fighters seem to get far more leeway for them than others.
