Should Lomachenko "RETIRE", if he beats Haney?

father time is undefeated. lomachenko is 35 i believe. the 135 class has a few exceptional fighters.
in my opinion, stevenson will be undisputed at some point. i hate seeing fighters staying in the game too long.
at his age, all i see is high risk and low reward.

 

Haney would probably be considered his best win (resume aside) putting him at his absolute pro-peak. He could make a lot of money defending the undisputed championship vs Shakur or especially Tank if Tank would take that.

 

Tank has learned some very fundamental boxing strategies from his mentor.

So I reckon he will want to wait till Loma is closer to 40.

 

No, if he wins there are 2 good fights left for him. Stevenson and tank. He could also rematch Lopez but Lopez has outgrown the weight and lomachenko can't really move up again. It's giving away to much of an advantage.

 

If he looks good in doing it and can secure big fights then no. There's no guarantee that Davis' handlers will want that fight if Loma looks good though, they've ducked it for years.

 

Loma should call out Tank and Shakur next. beat them (if tank team have the balls) and then retire at the age of 37.

 

It would setup money fights versus Tank, Shakur, and possibly Garcia. I don't see why he would retire when he'd make the bulk of his career earnings in the next year or so.

 

If Loma beats Haney, a very real possibility, he'll have every financial incentive to continue fighting.

Personally, I'd like to see him have a farewell "gimme" fight and retire. Many of his contemporaries have either retired, moved up or are otherwise irrelevant, and if continues challenging young guns (he'll have fought 2 of the 4 so-called new "Four Kings"), he'll eventually lose a fight he may not have lost 3-4 years ago.

Should he beat Haney, he'll have a legacy-defining fight and nothing left to prove.

An old, undersized 135lbs-er won't run a gauntlet of Stevenson, Tank, Martin, Zepeda etc unscathed, and there will always be another young lion (if Loma beats Haney, fans will clamor for Stevenson; if he gets by Stevenson, fans will clamor for Tank; if he bests Tank........you get the picture).

 

Nah Loma is built different he will keep going into fights even as an under dog. I guarantee if he wins he will go straight into a fight with Shakur. That's just his programming.

 

I believe that it's his own business, if he wants to retire he should do so, if he wants to continue then he should do so. I always find this "he should retire" comments to be distasteful since I mean who are we to tell others how to live their lives?

It's what these types of forums are for and IMO Loma should take a couple more legacy defining fights if he's successful.

**** no, he shouldn't retire. That would be a loser's mentality to go out when things are left unfinished. A true ATG mentality would be to take on all the best in the few years he has left and win/lose give his all.

It's not like he has fought all monsters and took too much punishment recently. And besides, his pro career leaves out a lot to be desired unlike his amateur one. He has 2 unavenged loses, this is arguably the best division right now in boxing with all the talent in it. No time to waste. If he left now, his career would be a lot of smoke in mirrors, as I don't really care how many amateur wins he had, pro greatness is where it's at and how the best are judged. I already know some fans have labeled his as washed up but at the same time keep saying he'd beat anyone in his prime.

Lets see who he can beat right now, and what's he's really made of.
