Should Maidana Be on Top Ten Pound For Pound Lists...?!?!?

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by ( ° °), Apr 23, 2015.

  1. On the one hand, he's C/B- level. He got shut out 12 zip by Devon Alexander for chrissakes. But Maidana's a dangerous proposition for any welterweight because of his power.

On the other hand, he arguably beat Floyd in their first fight (a Draw is the BEST case I can make for Floyd).

    What say y'alls?

    Nope.

Pacquiao and Floyd are the only Welters who should be in the P4P list.

I says Floyd is over rated now

Hes been many peples p4p #1 for so long they just automatically put him there

Gennady is clearly the p4p best on the planet, after Marquez, but people are so accostomed to having Floyd there they dont even bother thinking

Put it this way - what the hell would GGG do with a bum like Maidana? He sure as hell wouldnt make it a life or death struggle like Shotweather

No. And no one ever put him there; even Floyd fans didn't over rate Maidana. Maidana is right where he should be, a fringe contender that will give almost any fighter hell (under Garcia). He gave Floyd hell because he's a great inside fighter where Floyd has been mixing it up lately. To beat Maidana easily or decisively, you either hurt him, or box him on the outside and clinch when necessary. Standing in the pocket is a recipe for disaster.

He's about B level (+/-). The Alexander fight was 10 rounds, his first bout at welter, and he wasn't trained by Garcia yet. Yes, Garcia has improved him a lot. He dangerous for any welter because of his power and style. He's like the Provodnikov of the welterweight division.

Where do you rate Bradley if Marquez is the p4p best in your opinion?

    Maidana aint B level

C level is maybe too harsh

One of the posters summed it up perfectly by calling him a B/C level fighter

    He's 2.5

Think the guy is fantastic, and holds genuine wins over both Juan and Manny

Maidana can be hurt, so what? Because Lopez hurt him that makes him a bum?
