I think Marquez won, but that doesn't move him in front. It doesn't work that way.

I never had him in the top 5 before the fight how the hell can he even break it with a loss ? Some people need to stop !

You must not be a boxing fan or simply a JMM hater.

Most fans and boxing pundits had Marquez making the top 5 pfp.

ANd with two very controversial fights with JMM and both of them having close to the same competition over the last year then it should be pretty obvious that these two belong next to each other on the PFP list!:deal

Next to each other P4P ? Are you on crack ? Like I have stated other than that BS decision over Barrera who has he beat ?? A draw with Manny , a loss to John and a gift against Barrera should have him next to Manny ? What planet do you live on ??

And what purist are you talking about I have followed the P4P rankings for a while now the closet he came to being ranked in the top 10 iwas before his fight with Manny the first time around ..And im not a JMM hater I just realize that he's not the strongest out all of the Mxican fighters and was never sold on him to begin with !

Firs of all, your post is all over the place, try and settle down and we'll
focus on one thing at a time.

No I'm not on crack, but that seems to be a PAC fan standard response!

I never said anything about purists, so please don't twist my words.
I said that most fans and boxing pundits(it's a real word) have/had
JMM in the top 5 PFP. Check out somePFP lists, there's plenty of links!

A good PFP list should take into account current accomplishments so if we consider Pac and JMM's last 3 fights you'll notice that their competition is pretty equal. Marquez, MAB and Solis for PAC:
PAC, Juarez and MAB for JMM.

And here is where your hipocrisy or stupidity shines the most, You complain about JMMs "BS" victory over MAB but try to gloss over John's extremely tainted victory over JMM or better yet expect us to believe that Pac is that much better than JMM when even by JMM's worst detractors he has two very close fights against PAC:deal

Next time, put some thoughts behind your posts don't just type what comes out of your ass:hi:

Regardless of his tainted victory over John (and I will admit Marquez was robbed in that )Honestly what has he done to really be considered as elite to Manny ? A draw ? a razor thin loss ? What ? I'm not Pac fanatic but I call it like I see it ..His win over Juarez came after Barrera beat him twice !! Is that p4p credible ?

And I don't need to convice you that Manny is better than JMM his victories prove it !! Lets put their resumes side to side minus their fights and break it down !! Who's more accomplished ?

I think before you try to convice me as to why JMM should be up their maybe you should wipe his man juice from your eyes and see whats really going on !! Manny has dominated twice the caliber of fighters JMM has but you would like to place JMM and Manny side by side because to date he hs given him what his best test ??Please maybe when you think of a respose you wil also practice what you preach !!

Oh and your right Pundits is a word but please enlighten as to which one is the most credible !!

    Ok buddy !:good

I personally think that you need Calzaghe ahead of him. But its YOUR list and so you can do whatever you want. Mine is:

    1) PBF
    2) Pac
    3) JC
    4) Cotto
    5) JMM

I had Barrera winning against Marquez as well. Marquez has more of a matador style than Barrera though. He did the impossible against Pac in their first fight and got a deserved decision.. This last fight his performance was quazi dominant, considering what you value in this ever changing, infinately subjective judging criteria.

One day, a boxer needs to beat a champ convincingly, does and still loses (Holyfield vs Lewis). The next day, the long time champ is dethroned after out landing his young up and comming, very hyped opponent (Hopkins vs. Taylor).

I tend to believe boxing judges will value the up and commer, or the more marketable fighter who appeals to the masses at the time.

If you ask me.. Marquez put on a better performance this time than the first time he fought Pac, only this time he is rewarded with a big fat L.

What has he accomplished? Well, he has proven to be a stylistic nightmare for anybody who steps into the ring with him, and now has an arguable win over Pac, as well as a deserved draw.

    JMM/PAC quick comparison

    Historical relevance-Pac wins hands down
    Resume- Pac wins hands down
    ATG status--Pac wins hands down
CURRENT PFP status--slight edge to PAC
(an even vote is not out of the question):deal

Head to head competition-JMM gets the nod
since he won both fights IMO!

I like to use achievement in assessing the p4p - Boxrec is saying that JMM lost a close decision - He doesn't go up anywhere for loosing the fight.

I don't trust one person on this whole board to watch a fight with 4 close rounds and a knockdown to be able to be impartial.

The result was very close - I don't think there'll be a rematch soon - Good luck to JMM, but he jumped the shark in 2004 - I just holpe he can get another dance partner to get himself a couple of big $$$ paydays towards the end of his career.

There's nothin wrong in thinking he won the fight - But he didn't - So really I'd keep him at number 5 on my list where he was before this fight.

    Here's my current p4p list -

    Pacquiao
    Mayweather
    Vazquez
    Hopkins
    JMM Marquez
    Calzaghe
    Cotto
    R Marquez
    Pavlik
    Hatton

I don't care what anyone thinks about it, just posting for context.

Being a stylictic nightmare doesn't neccessarily make you the better fighter ..Ask Chris Byrd about that ..Though he may have given Manny his toughest fight he still didn't produce the result needed to put him in the elite class imo .The only way he will ever be in the same class with Manny is if he just goes on a rampage and beats guys like Guzman and Valero forcing another fight with Manny ..Until then he will just be a style that will always pose a problem for Manny ..

Ok, if JMM doesn't belong next to PAC on the PFP list where do you place him.

ANd better yet what has PAC done recently that highly surpasses anything JMM has done (the key word here is RECENTLY)

    Let's see your top 5 at least:deal
