Should Miguel Angel Cotto retire

to much money to be made at this stage of his career

 

I think thats the only reason hes fighting now (money). He knows he cant beat the likes of Pacquiao, and I think he's damaged goods at this point.

 

When you watch Cotto fight now and compare it to when he was in his mid 20s, it's easy to tell he's well past it. A couple more paydays and I think he should call it a career. He'll have successful business ventures after his boxing days are done.

 

I think he could win his 4rth world title against chavez jr. in middleweight but other than that he is fragile and should take easy fights from here. Cotto is one of those fighters who gets too shot easily because of poor punch resistance. Floyd and pac for example have been fighting longer. No point in staying when every elite win against him will be disregarded because of how shot he is

He should probably take low risk-high-reward fights at this stage in his career. He's on the decline and he's earned this right.

 

No I want to see him fight.... Too many big fights out there for him i.e Margarito, Alvarez, Martinez.

As a boxing fan I don't want top fighters to retire especially when he's not that old and has still got it. People attach the word 'shot' to fighters too easily.

Why because he lost a fight and then got pummeled by the best fighter on the planet?
That doesn't make you a shot fighter.

 

Hes a shell no matter what ppl say about all his improvement and training ragimes hes past it, the last time i saw a prime cotto was when he put on a beating against alfonso gomez since then wev just gotten a ghost, he took 12 rounds to get mayorga out of there,
powell wolak would beat him into retirement. hell yuri forman had him hurt at one point in the fight and had forman not ****ed his leg the fight would have gone to the cards

He has taken 2 hard beatings, but he still potentially has a lot to offer. He's not that far removed from his prime, as some are exaggerating.

I say he fights Margarito this year. If he loses, call it a day. If he wins, there is Cintron, Chavez, Williams, Alvarez, Angulo, Martinez out there for him.

if he plans on staying at 154 then yeah because the bigger punchers that weight will ruin him if he isn't already. i'd like to see the cotto-steward combination at 147 where he would be able to box well and develop into a complete fighter. theres definatly big fights at the weight for him, berto, ortiz and obviously margo would be big fights that could lead him to a pacquiao rematch which he wants and a career high pay day against money man mayweather.
