I don't like watching this, but I think there's definitely a case that this fight should have been stopped when Forrest beat up on Mosley in the 2nd round. In case you wanna see (or haven't) here it is (skip to 6:00 - 7:45ish)

Nah...Shane made the count both times and was actually sort of falling under a lot of Vernon's shots because he legs were so ****ed from memory. Makes you wonder though if another ref besides Smoger was there, would they have called it?
I think stopping the fight at that point would have left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths.

There was a point in the 10th aswell where it looked only a few punches from being stopped..Forrest was in complete control, ahead on the cards and he doubled Shane over with some mean body work..Mosley was on the ropes and Forrest was landing unanswered punches but Shane hung in there.

I wouldn't have stopped it. He was hurt but he wasn't out on his feet. Shane's got an amazing chin though. That uppercut would have killed anyone else.

I think if the bell had not rung when it did the ref probably would have stopped it and deservedly so.

The benefit of hindsight proves it should not of been stopped.

    uhhhhhhhhh.......no

thats why its called a 10 second count and not a 5 second count

if you show you gained consiousness in 10 seconds after a KD and want to continue than you should be allowed to continue

Nevermind hindsight; Shane's prestige at the time warranted the benefit of the doubt.

That's the biggest insult to guy only guy who got the closest. Floyd did NOT hurt Mosley the way Vernon did.

No, he didn't - and Vernon hurt a Shane who was as prime as it gets.

Why is this even being asked, when it already happened that the referee let it continue, Shane was able to weather it, without suffering any life-threatening or altering injuries after (so far)?
