Should Mtagwa Be Such A Huge Underdog?

    1400+ against Gonzalez.

Now I'm a huge Gonzalez fan, but the guy has wilted late in fights before. He's dominated in more then one fight only to unravel late, or just get dropped with one shot (Bodyshot against Penalosa, cold cocked against Nishioka)

It looked to me like Mtagwa simply couldn't deal with the speed of Gamboa, he was getting hit flush with counters. He still ate a few dozen power shots before going down.

Thing is Mtagwa is a slow starter. Gamboa blitzed him. More or less it was a terrible styles match-up for Mtagwa.

Can Mtagwa pressure Gonzalez and stop him? He certainly has stamina. He's knocked out multiple fighters in the 10th round onwards, and beat the ever loving **** out of Lopez late.

    So, thoughts?

Also, did the brutal Lopez fight simply take everything out of Mtagwa?

Since 2006 Mtagwa has only lost a handful of times.

A eight round loss to Dib. Not suprising, Mtagwa needs time to really get going. The Ghonzalez fight is a 12 rounder.

Lopez (A debatable win for Mtagwa)

And he lost against Salido. No shame there.

Also a SD loss against Martin Honor (Who? Screwbob?)

Mtagwa came to small for the Gamboa fight. He had no chance to begin with.

What do you think of his chances against Ghonzalez?

    Yes he should.

Mtagwa is a bum and Gamboa disposed of him as such. Gotta be a die-hard fan of Lopez to even consider Mtagwa a "good" fighter. Juanma sucks, everyone should accept this by now. Juanma has been lucky his whole career because of his nice punching power, but everything else in him sucks. His speed sucks, his defense sucks (he likes to block 4/5 of the shots with his face), his technique sucks, etc. The only "good" fighter I think he really faced before Salido was De Leon, and he got lucky early. You put two brawlers together and that's the kind of thing that can happen. And that was when De Leon wasn't even that good. Juanma has been in ***** street several times but, again, his punching power has saved him. Against a good fighter like Salido it seems like it wasn't enough.

So, to make it short, Mtagwa is exciting and has the heart of lion, but he deserves to be a big underdog againt Jhonny. Of course, Jhonny is not Gamboa or Donaire or John but he looks like an ok champ.

Explain yourself. If you mean that I look like a Gamboa fan, you're right, he's my favorite boxer, but what does it has to do with anything?

In fact, when they first announced that Gamboa was going to fight Mtagwa I was fukin unhappy about it. I couldn't understand why they were throwing such a bum to Yuri when he was in need of big names to go mainstream. I expected him to KO Mtagwa early because Mtagwa was a bum, so I wasn't impressed at all with Gamboa's perfomance when everybody else was like wowww who's that dude. On the other hand, I was one of the few who told everyone not to sleep on Salido because he was an excellent fighter, nothing to do with the Salido of 10 years ago with 10 losses. Again, I was right... even if it was almost a complete shout out, Salido stood there the whole fight.

So, really, your point, I don't understand. At the end, Mtagwa is just an exciting bum, and most people consider him as such. You're definately in the minority since you don't understand the odds. That's what's wrong with boxing, why the fk is that dude allowed to have another title shot?

So, wasn't that a bum? Congrats to Johnny for disposing of him as he should have...

Why the hell do people call other members out when they get a prediction wrong? Russell didn't even predict a Mtagwa victory.
