I'v been following this kid for a while, since 2005 and there was a time where i thought he could go all the way,Unfortunately this hasnt turned out to be the case his last 4 fights have been battles of attrition, i really hope he doesnt have to take any more beatings, i'v spoken to him a couple of times and he is a smart/intelligent kid i'm sure he could do well for himself outside of the ring, i think he should fight a few domestic names like gavin rees and derry matthews and then just retire.

No he lost to a top class fighter no shame in that, hes probably never going to win a world title but he could give it a good go

Not if he wants to continue.

He gave one of the top guys in the world a GREAT fight. He needs to work his way back up now and not take too dangerous fights in the next 12-18 months but he's still young. I certainly want to see more Murray fights as he provides great action.

I think he'd beat Derry at a canter, would get the better of Crolla too.

he has taken some beatings, would be good for him to earn as much as he can at domestic level, he has no boxing ability at all,

i do like him as a person, but he should really think about few more easy money fights then get out

pr try to learn to box and move

He's a brawler without power, so basically ineffective at the top level.

I thought his stock went up last night, he was competitive with Rios until the last couple of rounds and boxed a decent gameplan. His face swells and cuts too easy which is bad for him, but he still has a few good fights left in him.

I think he could be competitive against DeMarco, Miguel Vasquez and Ricky Burns as well as have a marketable rematch with Kevin Mitchell if he can't get a better offer.

He'll probably move back down a level and pick up a few wins after being stopped twice in a row and then have another tilt at it imo

    In short NO !!!!!!

Anybody with half an ounce of boxing knowledge knows / knew John was going to be really up against it against top tier LW's , and thats whats happened here , Rios is Murray with more tools and he's better schooled , Murray was never ever going to beat Rios , everybody knows this :deal

The Mitchell rematch would be good for Murray IMO , the fringe level contenders at LW wont want anything to do with Murray at the min , and the top echelon fighters are too good for him

If Frank could secure DeMarco that would be a terrific bit of matchmaking , but i fear a long meaningless rebuilding phase for Murray

No, I don't think his stock really dropped, he gave Rios (admittedly not the best version) a tough fight. Rios, JMM and Guerrero are on their way out of the division so it's wide open, there are good fights out there for him, DeMarco would have too much for him I think. He needs to rebuild but he's not finished.

He lost to rios a beast (as said before not in his best form) who some believe would beat marquez thats not all that bad. I dont understand why people on this site think domestic/european level is some kind of embarassment.

Does anyone reckon Murray could make super-feather? He doesn't have the power at world level at LW, but could carry it down there if he's able to make weight.

    Retire? Are you serious?

Yeah, every boxer should just retire after a loss. The man proved way more than most of us thought. Maybe it was down to Rios being drained or Murray just showing a lot of heart and courage, but either way, if anyone is to say he should retire after that, is dumb, imo.

No, it was a tough loss, the last couple both have been, but that's what should be expected with somebody like Murray who stands in front of his opponents and is very easy to hit and has weak skin.

But overall he did well last night, I didn't think there was much in it for a good 5 rounds save the fact Rios had a lot more power and overall that was the main difference. Murray showed a good chin and real fighting heart and enough ability to suggest he can still make a living at a good level in this sport. The key is whether he can keep up that intensity after such a defeat.
