:smoke It depends on his finances ! he is in good shape and can still make some cash if he needs it ! :deal
what is more dangerous- fighting heavyweight professional boxers, or what oliver mccall will be doing if he has idle time on his hands? i vote he should keep fighting
I can't see things from his own vantage point, so it's hard to say. McCall is still clearly a competent professional, and can make a living doing what he's been doing while still winning the vast majority of his fights. Thus, I don't see any particular reason he's really in need of retiring, but he is too old and too far on the downside of his career to compete at the world-elite level again.
True, he is not getting a belt anymore, but he is still competitive and always a one big punch KO threat to anyone out there. As long as he keeps showing up in shape for his fights, as he is doing, don't see any reason why he shouldn't fight a little longer.
Mccall is a very durable fighter and that is all he needs to a decent contender in today's ****-weak HW era.
Well he keeps on keeping on doesnt he. Its testement to his freakish chin and also to the weakness of the division that he still keeps on getting wins and getting ranked. I think he should have hung them up after the Lewis fight but his longevity is quite remarkable, I would like to see him bow out soon.
Had he been matched in a good way, he'd be on his way to a title fight in early '08 right now. He fought the one dude that he has to keep away from, there's a few fighters that can outhustle McCall, but he'll be dangerous to some of the champions, in all honesty. If Oliver feels good and still have the desire, why not.. he should keep going, it keeps him out of trouble, and I'd like to see Oliver succeed, he's one of the good guys out there, absolutely awesome person.
Oliver McCall has looked terribly slow and lethargic in most of his comeback fights. And he has been fighting sub par opposition for the most part. I do think it would be a good move for him to retire but I don't think he will because he needs the money and he has five or six kids I think.
Might as well keep on going. He can still earn decent money, does not seem to have suffered mentally from the punches he's taken, and is still compatative (so long he's not up against slicksters!) He still has a good WBC rating too. I see no solid reason for him to retire, not when he can work himself back into a mandatory position again with just the right win or two.
