It should be reserved for the best ever do it, but I feel as if boxing fans miss something big in this equation: the sport must be revamped. We are always going to have these long-winded subjective debates about who gets in and who doesn't because the sport offers little in the way of clarity.

We need a governing body, streamlined weight divisions, one champion per, etc. so we don't have to engage in so much guesswork. Guys fight the best and the cream rises to the top.

the Way it Used to be and as I've said many times fighters who lived at the Top during such eras/times ARE Proven for all time.

I agree with the others too, who recognize the reality of great & popular fighters who left a mark on the sport for various reason's, with the comparison's to Gatti and SRR, sure different level of greatness but equally viable.

Longevity at the top is equally great, as that is also a proof of a fighters prowess. Again as I've stated before, in 150 years of Boxing History, there are thousands of great fighters.

Yeah it should be just for the best. But it is voted on and that makes it a popularity contest.

Human nature dictates that any time you develop an " organization " you immediately set it upon the inevitable road to corruption, cronyism, and graft. This "only the best of the best" stuff is nice on paper, but in such a subjective thing as boxing it's almost impossible to cobble together a cohesive policy of induction. Then of course it becomes a free for all.

You shouldn’t get in just because you’re part of a weak class
