He should, he can't take a punch now, schooled Ruiz apart from the 3 KD's though so smart matchmaking against guys with no power would get him some wins.
This is the perfect moment to bow out. Not that he couldn't find a reasonable win somewhere, but everything that lands clean is stunning him. That can't be healthy. I give it about a 5% he does retire though. Wouldn't be surprised if we saw him in with Frank Sanchez. If Wilder revives his career then Ortiz will be very appealing for guys wanting to be put on the waiting list for that fight
IF he can continue at a level where he can still earn some bucks & not get hurt then no , but I'd hate to see him end up getting hiding after hiding .
I think he should. He's nothing more than a gatekeeper now. He might still be useful in that role for another year or so...but he's been at the sport for several decade. He's probably facing long-term health consequences as it is. I think he'd do well to stop. I think he'd make one heck of a boxing trainer. His Ring IQ is extraordinary and that was on display tonight.
There's still money to be made and laughs to be had. Yeah, it's not worth his health.. The thing is, though, that many boxers can't find true fulfillment in being a family man. He wants to be the best in the world, that's really all there is to it. That's the purpose of his life to him. He'd be bored and apathetic if he retired now. But yeah, he should retire.
I think so. He's old... his brains taken enough hits and the risk vs reward ration is completely imbalanced now that he not only has little chance of beating a top 5 guy, but now has little chance of ever fighting one again. I say just retire with his head held high.
He has money and Ruiz and Wilder aren’t going to give him fights, so he should retire unless he gets offered someone like Demirezen.
He should've been retired already. About his second Wilder fight he was showing sign of being a bit old for boxing.
