He barely won and I have to see the fight again because I had Pac winning early but by mid rounds till the last I saw Marquez controlling the fight, making Pac miss and countering him sharply. Pac seemed gassed out at the end. At the ending of the fight I thought to myself that it seemed like another draw only because of the knockdown but other than that mostly Marquez. I expected Pac to come in strong but I did not expect Marquez to be the one to go out strong toward the end. This is a classic that would be debated upon for a while therefore rematch. But I can see Pac wanting to go up in weight which I think is a mistake because he doesn't look as sharp as he has before.
Pac wants to move to 135 so he can take David Diaz as a tuneup there and either take Juan or JMM at 135. IMO, Juan Diaz would be a much easier fight and would do more for his resume(different name) but JMM is definetely deserving of a rematch.
Pac's already said he wanted to move up and go after Diaz's belt even before this fight was made, but with Marquez victory over Barrera the public demanded a rematch with Marquez and I remember seeing serveral Topics/threads about how Manny was dodging Marquez, because he wanted to fight Diaz for his belt. He could've went right ahead and fought Diaz , but he choose to fight Marquez instead to please his fans AND THATS A FACT. So, I feel he has the right to do as he pleases and if JMM wants a rematch , he should get a Victory over Guzman or Velero and that could secure him another demand against PAC @ 135. and wtf is up with the "Bodong"?
Exactly man, I can't stand these "boxing fans" bitching and moaning just because there won't be an imediate rematch It's not like he said he wouldn't fight Marquez again. He already had a plan to go up and fight Diaz at 135 before the Marquez II fight, but he choose Marquez instead. They had a great fight last night and this guy needs a break.
I'm in agreement with Emmanuel Steward..."rematch immediately." BTW, I thought PAC was a warrior? If he is, then accept the best challenges @ 130, JMM. If he goes for a top 135er he may get stopped, then lose the lustre in a losing rubbermatch with Marquez! VIVA JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ!!!!!!!
Yes of course because it's in the contract. The contract says JMM will have to give Pacquaio a rematch if he wins . . . sadly there's no provision in the contract that says Pacquaio will give him arematch if he gets the belts and titles. A third fight? Yes . . . at 135. Since JMM is running after Pac now . . . go up to 135 (which JMM said he is willing to do) And have a third fight there. I'm all for it baby! :good
I find it hypocritical that Pac fans were all for a rematch with Morales after Eric got knocked out, but they aren't all for a rematch with JMM after two very debatable decisions. If I was an honorable fighter, I would fight the man again. JMM deserves a rematch. We all know the money will be there. The only thing stopping a rubber match is Pac questionable heart.
WTF are you talking about, Pac fans wanted the JMM rematch more than the JMM fans, thats for sure. All the JMM fans were protecting their guy with the Pacman has to fight Soto before JMM junk. And Pacman has nothing to gain for a third fight with JMM, he could make $5 mill fighting some nobody instead of a high calibur fighter like JMM for only $3mill. one day after the fight and Pacman has a questionable heart already, go figure. atsch
i am aware that marquez style is hard for pac even before the fight. so if pac doesn't want a rematch and wants to chase big money fights at the higher weights, its his choice. he could have a good 2~3 fights left and he could use it to fight whoever he thinks will give him more money. i feel that he has sealed his legacy anyway.
Don't forget that his heart was also questioned right after they officially announced the DIAZ/PAC fight until they were browbeaten into deciding to take the JMM rematch afterall!
Let me make myself clear here . . . I'm not speaking for the rest. I'm all for a third fight. Not a rematch. A rematch means at the same weight class fighting for the same belt. Don't forget the fact that it has long been announced that win or lose this is Paxquaio's last fight at 130 . . . so I want them to fight again at 135.
You all act like the Diaz fight was just a sudden plan. The fight with Diaz was already planned out even if both fighters were to lose last night, anyone who follows boxing knew that. Buisness isnt closed and if JMM wants a 3rd fight then move up and chase pacman, bring something to the table again.
A rematch doesn't have to be at the same weight. Look at Hearns-Leonard, which is considered a rematch. At 135, that would be cool, too. At any weight, JMM deserves a rematch.
You're not paying attention! Read the post again, I was talking about the flack PAC got for announcing that he would be fighting Diaz instead of a rematch with JMM a while back.atsch
