this is currently my top 10 p4p 1.floyd 2.pac 3.calzaghe 4.jmarquez (interchangeable with cal, without being biased to pac) 5.klitschko 6.cotto 7.mijares 8.pavlik 9.bhop 10.israel vasquez
May I also add that Mayweathers performance against hatton was brilliant. He beat him at his own game, his defence was solid and the way he adjusted round 7 onwards was great. That is the type of performance that makes you P4P #1. I saw nothing from Manny on the weekend to suggest that he has ANY claim to that, sure Manny has a great resume but that is not enough. Floyd has dominated his opponents, and been consistent throughout the years. Manny has not been consistent
Floyd is the clear #1, but I'm not of the opinion that #1 stays at #1 for long if he doesn't fight often and against top competition. I would move Pac or Calzaghe into #1 if they did great things this year and Floyd stays inactive.
Thank You. You know this is really sad. One year ago I was a huge Pac fan, but it seems since then his fansboys have gone crazy, saying **** Like Pac is unbeatable and he is an all time great. Talking about how he would move up to 140 and beat Hatton, or moving up even higher and beatting Oscar. its all sad, for us that arent blind we can see that Pac is a good fighter but he has lost several fights a few by knockout, and could have easy have 6 loses on his record today. That isnt a guy that should be seen as a p4p elite fighter. Exciting as hell, but not p4p. I will say these Pac has gone far with what he has. His fans hurt him more then they help him on boxing sites. It would be like Cazalghe fans saying that he could move up to cruiserweight and knockout Haye or heavyweight and knock out Wlad. Or Wlad fans saying that he is unbeattable.......OH Wait they, say that dont they:yep
Im not sure about that. Im not going to say that Oscar is the hunger fighter that he once ways, but really there comes a point for fighters that really have all the money that they need..IE Holyfield, Jones, Oscars, that pride it was keeps them going, wanting to go out on top.
Ask me any day of the week who would i rather watch PBF or Manny. The answer would be Manny. If i saw any of those guys in a pub who would I have a beer with..it would be Manny. The guy is a gentleman and a great fighter. Like you said, the fans hurt Manny the most. They come out with some ridiculous statements and possible future fight predictions. Most of the time they are entertaining (like PacDabest) but recently its been getting on my nerves.
If he's able to take down the Diazes and either Casa/Katsidis in his next few fights (while all Mayweather has is DLH), then yes, he should be.
Diaz is crap, and he got waxed by Kendall Holt. Casa would would knock pac's head off. Dont know much about Katsidis only seen parts of one fight on the Hopkins Wright undercard and I wasnt that impress from what little I seen.
Davd Diaz + Juan Diaz + Casa/Katsidis (or even JMM again) is much more impressive than one fight against DLH. You have to admit that. Unless Mayweather takes on Cotto after DLH, it's hard to argue against Pac not being #1 P4P.
to be honest i think you're just a hater. pac surely deserves to be in p4p not only because of his classic matchups with barrera, morales, and marquez and him being a three time world champ. he started as a flyweight and accomplished great things at the higher weights, that feat itself is incredible. if you're reasonable enough you will believe that he is a great fighter and one of the elites in the business (and a future atg). you should not base your hatred on pac's fanboys, to the point that you are discrediting what he has accomplished in his career. it seems that you're one of those guys at esb who let their emotions get into their way of recognizing a boxer's accomplishment. i respect your own opinion though. if that's what you think about pac, saying he's not a great fighter, then so be it because that's what you believe.
Many fighters have moved up in weight to do some great things. In fact very few fighters stay at one weight. What so many of Pac fans fell to realize is that loses count. Pac is a fighter that could/should have as many as 6 of them. Another thing is Pac backer are pretty much basing thier whole argument on his 7 fights with MAB(2), Morelas(3), and JMM(2). Problem with that is many fans believe that pac should only have a 4-3 record there vs all guys that are closer to the end then they are thier primes. I already pointed out numbers that proved that fact. Numbers like 1-5 for Morelas in his last six fights his lone win......Over pac. MAB should have been 1-3 in his last four having got a gift over the very average Juarez. You know it all sound good the names and all but these fighters with the exception of JMM are just shells of what they once were. I will give you another example. If I were to tell you that a heavyweight beat Tony Tubbs, Phil Jackson, Larry Holmes and Tim Witherspoon someone would say that was one of the best if not the best heavyweight of the the 1980's problem is the heavyweight that beat all those guys name is Brain Nielsen and he did in the mid 1990's, then its not sooo impressive. In all honesty that is almost what Pac did. Now I say almost because those past their best fighters that Pac fought werent as far gone as the ones that Nielsen faced but Pac is also a much better fighter then Nielsen. What im saying is that Pac has a tough road to really ever becoming the p4p king. For two reason. One his isnt going to beat a Juan Diaz, Campbell, or Casamayor. And Two he would need Floyd to lose, Cazlaghe to lose, and Cotto to lose. And since I dont see a round robin going down with those three guys in the near furture its not likey. Its more likely that Pac will lose before that happen. I think that Pac will beat Diaz, but it will be a much tougher fight then most think. Diaz is a big guy, started his career at welterweight and actaully came down in weight. Pac's power I dont think will be a factor. And Diaz will be much stronger. And even though he isnt very good that will cause Pac alot of problems.
