Should Pacquiao consider retiring?

    Obviously Marquez put in a very good performance but I was equally shocked with Pacquiao's poor performance. I don't think he looked anything like the fighter he was from 2008-2009. His hands looked fast and he took a good shot, but where was the accuracy, the body punching, the footwork, the variation or the combinations? He looked very poor, I thought. You have to give Marquez credit for outboxing him but I was equally disappointed with Pacquiao's lack of ability to do anything.

    Maybe the reason he was so poor was the cramps? I don't know whether that was a valid reason or just an excuse. I can honestly say that I wouldn't mind if he retired now though because he's not the phenomenal fighter he was a couple of years ago. He's still elite, yeah, but how long for?

    He's been a world champion on and off for 13 years, has jumped a lot of weight, been in some incredibly gruelling fights and he has a lot of distraction outside the ring. I just can't see him getting back to the fighter he was during his best years.

    I'd say he's been considering retirement for a good while now. The Mayweather fight should be done just to get it over with.

    This is what I don't want to see. Pacquiao is too great to "cash in". His legacy shouldn't have a price and if he continues to fight, he'll lose to someone he shouldn't have and that will undoubtedly hurt his legacy.

    Williams also dominated Martinez in their first fight and got shamefully robbed in their second by Martinez knocking him out . . . . if that fight had gone the distance wed be looking at a true middleweight champion :hey

    If he retires right now he will endup higher in the ATG lists than Mayweather (unless he does a spectacular finishing run)
    In the end it comes down to Pac dared to be great, Mayweather dared to cash in and take vacations.

    No matter if Mayweather should beat Pac h2h, a legacy is not build on should have/could have.

    Pacquiao has not declined in any way, he is and always has been the same fighter, jmm just came better prepared, he's fought Manny twice before and knew what to expect from Pac because Pac hasn't changed **** in his arsenal, he still does the exact same **** he did in the first two fights...

    Jmm knows how to adjust Pac doesn't and the leg cramps bull**** is just an excuse in an attempt to excuse his failure to dominate a man he will never be able to dominate....they say the cramps started in the fourth but what about the first 4 rounds where his mobility looked the same as the last 8...

    Actually, MARQUEZ is the one considering it because he always comes short every time he fights PAC. Poor MARQUEZ, he must be throwing TANTRUM in his locked out room. :hat

    Marquez obviously played a huge part in it but this has been a steady decline, culminating in last nights performance. Even if Pacquiao had been against Bradley or some other fighter clearly inferior to himself, he'd have looked poor. Just not as bad as he did against a great fighter.

    I Think Pac should retire and not fight Mayweather.
    A fight with Mayweather will be Pac's last big money fight. After that exposure Pac won't be looked at the same and his value will have taken a huge drop.
    Perhaps the money is too good to resist, in which case Pac should just take the money and ass whopping and run, off into full politics mode.
    Either way, true boxing fans all the more realize that a master boxer like Floyd Mayweather at least a level above ALL current contenders.

    Manny, I can only suggest that you give up the Vegas life, move onto a ranch, and hoard your cash. The end is near. :good
