This thread is funny. Many don't even have Pac winning the fight last night.

Meanwhile Mayweather was emphatic in his KO of Hatton. If nothing else, the distance between the two is greater now.

I don't think a split decision like that could move him up, the fight could have gone either way. I also don't think Pacquiao is even #2, I feel Joe has put on the more dominating impressive victories. Although I honestly feel there isn't much to pick from p4p because Mayweather won't fight guys in his stacked division, Calzaghe at least fought the clear #1 contender from his division, taking on Kessler was a huge risk.

    Pacquiao still won anyways....
Question is...what's more important now, a fighter's talent or his accomplishments ?

Shot or not by subjective standards, Morales, Barrera and Marquez are much better quality fighters than what Mayweather has faced in a while....

As opposition over the last few years, do you prefer Hatton; De La Hoya and Judah for Mayweather over Morales; Barrera & Marquez for Pacquiao ?

If more emphasis is put on a fighter's skills, then Mayweather is in a class of his own on this pound for pound chart....but pound for pound needs to be primarily looked at in terms of ACCOMPLISHMENTS !!

Therefore a reasonable debate can take place !

Pac's resume is excellent, but so is Mayweather's when viewed over the context of his entire career. Hernandez, Corrales, Castillo, Judah, DLH, Hatton- just to name a few.

Yes that's true looking into his whole career....he's right up there no question ! Thing is, pound for pound listings are updated as fights go by....If we keep looking into a whole career, then a guy like De La Hoya would still be in the top ten because of his accomplishments, such as winning in 6 different categories, etc...

Over the last 3 years, whether Pacquiao wins, ties or loses in other people's eyes... he still deserves a reasonable debate as to his spot on this pound for pound list ! He has had the better opposition in the last 3 years easily !!

Yeah, if only he had won.

Gifts shouldn't be included when assesing P4P status.

Only the difference is that Mayweather outclassed and KO'd Hatton, whereas Pac won a razor-thin and much debated decision over JMM. Off of that, i still rate PBF's victory slightly higher.

39-0 /5 world titles /5 weight classes, no blemishes

    46-3-2/ 3 world titles/3 weight classes

It doesn't balance out no matter who they fought along the way ... this guy has lost and will lose again, until PBF loses he keeps that #1 status for as long as he wants.

What PacMan has accomplished is impressive but he's too far behind to be considered up there w/ Floyd.

Floyd has been a champ consistantly for 10 years ... Pac has been up and down and has just hit the scene.

People expect this from Floyd ... he hasn't fought who the public wants him to fight at times ... but the truth is he's still undefeated, still a champion, and hasn't showed any signs of weakness.

It's tough. Pacman has fought and beat much better opposition that PBF, however I had JMM clearly winning so I have to place PBF ahead of Pacman.

At least Pacman takes risks and fights the best.

Being undefeated doesn't make you p4p #1. Honestly the only reason he ever got to be p4p #1 was due to Hopkins getting screwed in the first Taylor fight. Calzage, Hopkins, Pacman and Cotto have all beaten better fighters that the ones PBF has beaten recently.

The winner of Hopkins- Calzaghe will be the clear p4p #1 fighter in my book.
