Should Paul Smith be A-side against Ward being he has a bigger fanbase?

If Paul Smith's trips to fight Arthur Abraham in Germany proved one thing it is that Smith clearly has more fans willing to travel abroad and see him in a fight he will almost defiantly lose than Ward has that will come to his back garden to see him almost defiantly win.

Being that Smith is bringing the fans who will outnumber Ward fans in Oakland, along with more Smith fans watching on TV than Ward fans, should Smith get the lions share. Discuss.

Yep. He's shamelessly ducked Froch, GGG and Kovalev to fight Paul Freaking Smith. :-(

I would rather he fought Callum Smith, he is the better of the brothers.

On the bright side, it's better than fighting Sartison.

Smith has a fanbase? Those four guys spilling beer all over the table in the far corner of the pub?

I guess that's better than Ward's only two fans he met at the shoe store 2 years ago...

Crying about it? All im pointing out is Smith is the one putting bums on seats for this fight, so should be A side.

    At least he's fighting.
I'd expected nothing more as a gimme, he has been out for quite some time and you can't expect him to start fighting murderers row after such a stretch of inactivity.

Paul Smith is the perfect opponent in that regard, with enough skill to give him a decent workout while in reality being an almost zero risk foe. What I do wonder about is if Andre can still make 168, he wasn't even sure about that himself.

I do love the stab at having the bigger fanbase always means being the a-side, regardless of huge gap in actual skilllevel

Yeah, fair enough. He has been out for yonks so is entitled to a warm up, rust-remover of a fight. Smith fits the bill for that.

After this fight Smith needs to hang up those gloves and go into boxing punditry. As a boxer, he has achieved all he is capable of now.

You know what, its a poor fit for somebody as goodd as ward but not a bad fight to get rid of some ring rust.

Very 1 sided but atleast hes fighting.
