So he fight who every he wants after Hopkins like Abraham or Calzaghe or should Kelly keep the ABC belts and fight Rubio or Zbik next after Hopkins?

**** belts and get big fights :deal

Pavlik vs Calzaghe would still be a major event regardless of whether there are any straps on the line

If he beats Hopkins he'll be red hot, he's already hot.

At that point he can do whatever he likes. However, I feel that Kelly is a fighter who will do what he is told by his people. I expect him to hold onto an alphabet strap.

By all means have one, but vacate the WBO - why bother wasting a portion of your purse on a sanctioning fee, when all you are going to get is a useless mando like Gary Lockett.

These uselss mandatories are fine for Pavlik. He makes money, he stays in shape, there is little risk. He should be mixing it up - superstar, genuine threat, easy defence, repeat until retired.

If he can squeeze in a mandatory before his next big fight, why not keep them?
He can use the alphabets as a bargaining tool if he ever decides to fight Abraham!

So Pavlik is allowed easy defences, yet other fighters aren't?

he should keep the WBO title as it is obviously the most prestigious available.

the WBC title is a worthless trinket.

The thing I don't like about the ring belt is when fighter only has it often the one defend it one or twice a year and then only in big money fights. I like the idea that Pavlik has to fight four times a year and that med level guys like Rubio and Zbik get a shot at the big time.

No,that's not what I'm saying. I'm talking about after the Hopkins fight ,if he has time to fight again (before Calzaghe for example) why not take on a mandatory?

He should just vacate WBO title. No point keeping it.

The most stupid thing was that he didn't grant a rematch to Robin Reid!

Pavlik doesn't need to give up the WBO belt. Gary Lockett was the WBO #1 challenger for the longest time. Noone seemed to care. Heck, the only real reason Pavlik fought him was to try to work some interest in a Calzaghe fight. Calzaghe's keeping his 168 WBO belt and plans to defend it and the sanctioning body seems to have no issue that he will have gone an entire year without defending it.

As for the WBC belt. Would Taylor have faced Pavlik had it not been for this belt? Pavlik was a rarity. A #1 Contender who actually deserved his #1 Contender ranking. It would be rather graceless of Pavlik to turn his back on the belt whose mandatory system helped get him where he is today.

What Pavlik needs to do is arrange some eliminators. Abraham did it with Giovanni Lorenzo and Raul Marquez. Taylor with HBO's help did it with Miranda and Pavlik. Why not request that Zbik and Rubio battle it out on the undercard of his fight with Hopkins? The winner will get the inside track of facing the winner of Pavlik-Abraham.

Pavlik has stated numerous times that he wants all 4 belts. Abraham is more than willing to fight Pav, so the IBF belt is pretty much in the bag. Sturm is another story, so Pavlik may find it impossible to ever get his hands on the WBA title. Until he can no longer make 160, or until it becomes obvious he can never get ahold of the WBA strap, he should keep all his belts.
