Should Pernell Whitaker be rated higher than Wilfredo Gomez, P4P?

    Don't know if he could do things Whitaker could only dream about, but before he fell in love with his punching power, having the weight and training issues Gomez was one of the most complete fighters in history.

    I probably should note i wasn't taking into account the list was from the last 50 years and in that case Gomez would obviously be a lot closer to Whitaker vs a list that encompassed all time.

    Matt has Gomez 43 places lower in his all time list which is a "comfortably ahead" by any stretch of the imagination. Over the last 50 years tho he'd only have them something like 16 places apart.

    Pernell Sweet Pea Whittaker, Wilfredo Gomez was a real good champion but was never the same after suffering that one sided loss to Salvador Sanchez in 1981. Whittaker had speed, longevity, skill, movement and defended against tough opposition. He moved up to capture a 154 lb title.
