Should Phil Davis be next in line after Jones KO1 Suga Rashad?

No, Davis needs time to develop a bit more. Jones is more talented and would currently take him to the cleaners.

Not that after beating lil Nog it is not a great win. But I would rather see him improve than be thrown to the beast that is Jon Jones.

I think he won in terms of rounds, not in terms of damage. Fights are scored on a RbR basis.

 

Even Rampage thought he lost that fight vs Machida...Im not sure who gets the next shot vs Jones but I dont see him Losing to Rashad Evans.. Phil Davis is a good fighter but I dont see him beating Jones either

 

Jones will beat up Davis more than he did Shogun, this kid isnt all this good. Bader at this point will stop Davis.

 

Davis needs a lot more work before he gets a shot at the title imo.

Phil Davis put in a good performance, not a great one, though I thought he won every round.

The real problem was his double leg takedown early. He couldn't take Little Nog down despite his top wrestling credentials, and it reflected badly on him. But credit to Davis, he held his own standing, kept his composure, switched to single legs and imposed his game in the second and third. If he'd kept it standing he'd also have won I think, but it would have been a bit closer.

Little Nog is quality win for anyone, and I'd like to see Phil Davis challenge someone like Thiago Silva or Ryan Bader next. It's too soon for a title shot.

 

Hell to the NO. I wasn't impress at all last night. Don't get me wrong he is a good fighter but at this point, jon jones will beat him. I want to see davis fight another contender like thiago silva or rampage next then we'll see if his ready for the title.

 

No. Davis needs at least two more years of fighting under his belt otherwise he gets demolished. His stand-up is awkward and sloppy. His wrestling did not look that impressive last night against a guy who is notorious for shitting the bed against wrestlers. I think Davis is a half step below Bader at this point (since Bader at least has a big right hand).

I'd rather see Jones versus established guys like Machida, Rampage, etc. Do I think any of them can beat Jones? No. But still, they'll be better tests at this point.
