Franny Smith clearly isn't a good enough trainer.

'Throw the right hand' isn't good enough advice.

His corner man did sound a bit stupid with the things he was saying... maybe Price thought he was there for the taking in round two... he seems a very stuttery fighter to me in that he never truly looks comfortable, you get the impression (as we saw tonight) he could be hit by a flurry at any time... defensively not convincing in my mind (easy to say after tonight though!)

If you type in Franny Smith on youtube and look at recent videos there is one from this week where he does an hour interview and his tactics seem very limited going by what he is saying on there. Him and Pricey get on well but that doesn't mean Pricey will succeed under him.

If you want to be world champion, you need a world champion team. Manny Steward would have done wonders and resurrected him from here if he was still alive. He was fond of him to, heard many a time him speak of David Price.

Very good point. Didn't Fury say something recently about Smith knowing nothing as well and that he should get in the dole queue when Price loses? Looks like there was actually meaning behind that insult. David should swap trainers IMO. He needs a very wise head in his corner if he's going to recover from this.

This is the video I mean, just generally when you listen to the video it seems like there is a lack of tactics in place and everything seems quite basic.

I'm still not sure whether its completely fair to criticize the trainer/promoter because at the end of the day no one can take that shot for Pricey and he is the one who has buckled from it.

What trainers are out there that have worked with bigger heavyweights and had success?

Maybe Adam Booth? Haye and Price have both said that they'd never fight each other so there's no clashes of interest. Booth is an excellent studier of fighters and tactician. He could definitely help David.

The issue was not the shot or chin. Everybody new he didnt have a solid beard. The issue is he made stupid decisions in the ring due to inexpirience and poor training. Faults of trainer & promoter as well as fighter.

If he wants to stay in Liverpool then maybe Mick McAllister and Mark Quinn from the Rotunda ABC? They train Bellew and have made him a much better fighter. Before with Anthony Farnell he was just a slugger who relied on bombing opponents out, like Price does now. They've made Tony a much better boxer who thinks a lot more and has a better defence. Maybe Pricey could give them a go? He clearly needs to be taught some new things.

He will when Groves ends up like Price tonight. They both have the same aura, said it ages ago. Same with DeGale and Chisora, I did ask if anybody knew if they was autistic or something? I'm sure Chisora said he was?

They all look vulnerable outside the ring, never mind in it.

I agree, I'm just saying that until the stoppage he was winning the fight and it was one punch that cause it. If Price would have won the fight, I'm guessing if it continued he would have stopped Thompson slightly later on the fight, would we be talking about this?

I don't think Franny is good enough. His advice in Edwards corner against Satch was poor, Brough obviously left him for a reason and his corner work in the last few fights for Pricey basically involves use the big right hand and nothing else.

It's strange that Paul Edwards and the other lad left Franny Smith after only a few fights...

I think they both left after 1 fight didn't they?

Franny says on that hour interview that it was because of him focusing on Pricey but you never know.
