Let’s say that his name came up on the ballot, and you had a vote.

How would you vote, and why?

No. He had little impact on the division he fought in in comparison to other HOF-ers, and isn't a name particularly relevant in boxing history for one reason or another.

Even on this forum, his sole purpose of existence seems to be, being used as an example of why Louis or Baer or whoever could beat *insert SHW here*.

I think that his historical impact greatly outweighs his ring accomplishments. He was one of the most controversial and turbulent champions in history.

As for the impact of other Hall of Famers, he is up against guys like Braddock and Johansen.

I don't think they belong either. But since they are included, I guess Carnera could fit in.

Overall I think the HOF is far too accepting when it comes to old-timers.

For the avoidance of any doubt, this poll is based on the level of the current inductees.

He was at one point the famous boxer in the world, wasn't he? It's called the hall of FAME. Yes. Does he belong up there with the greats? Hell ****ingg no.

Not on merit, but after decades of being ragged on as the worst titlist ever, the induction would be an exorcism of sort, sending his much-maligned soul off to peace in the afterlife.

Yes he does deserve to be in.
I'm surprised if he's not in, and not on the ballot.
The IBHOF is just one Hall of Fame, there are others. Carnera should be recognized.

He was one of the colourful characters of 1930s boxing, a commercial success, and heavyweight champion of the world, an INTERNATIONAL star.
He was an active fighter too. At the very least he was all those things.

It seems that he became a foreign scapegoat for the ills of American boxing, and he never recovered from that.

    HOF is pretty ridiculous.

But as far as it goes yeah he should be in.

Why not? Everyone else is in it.

Why not put Frenchy Demange,Owney Madden ,Billy Duffy & Walter Friedman in as managers too? They sure did a hell of a job with Primo.

He probably should be in for the 'fame' part, a bit like Carpentier whose fame trumped his in-ring accomplishments. He did also beat three Hall of Famers and had a better title record than Baer, Schmeling, Sharkey and Braddock.

He's a famous boxer. He belongs in the boxing hall of fame.

He probably doesn't belong in the boxing hall of extraordinary achievements.

He was maybe the strongest hw of all time, biggest hands I've ever seen, but not a great boxer.
