Should Prizefighter become a recognised BBBOC belt?

Prizefighter is going from strength to strength. I love seeing young fighters risking their '0' early in their careers. I think the reward should be legitimised with an official belt.

There should be a prize fighter tournament in most weight divisions each year, and some catch weight tournaments to give the Flys, Super Flys and bantams a chance as well.

I think having 2 heavy weight tournamants in a year took the shine off the 2nd one, but having one winner each year per division would add to the prestige

e.g Imagine George Groves as Prizefighter Super Middle Champ 2010

Another belt and more catchweights? No thanks, Colin. I'm not too hot on the Prizefighter concept anyway as I prefer seeing a fight develop over the distance and, to be completely honest, I've not enjoyed the other ones up until now. That said, I will be watching the latest one out of pure interest so it might win me over:good.

A trophy is fine with me. The holder should also have the chance to defend his trophy as well in future prizefighters.

simple answer = no. This is pretty much the boxing equivalent of the splash and dash. It's a chance for those past their prime or never quite there to get a good payday as in this format anyone on any night can win. To give it a belt detracts from those skillful enough to win legit BBBoC belts over 10 or 12

Prize Fighter reminds me alot of 20/20. Its just good quick fun and thats it. But a belt? Thats got to be the dumbest idea in a long while.

That is also a good point young Gregory. You could boost your record with 3 wins on one night.

    was thinking about it today

zalthough they are judged, competitive fights they cant be coinsidered 'proper' bouts

also just of intrest i remeber finding out Jimmy Wilde competed in a 'Prizefighter' of sorts at Bantamweight called someething like teh kings challenge

Sorry man but this is the worst idea in a long while. You are taking something which is meant to be cheap fun and glorifying it.

    :good

That is pretty cool. They had the Bantam, Middle and Heavy all on the same night though there were only four fighters in each.
