if everyone thought like this there would be a lot more deaths and serious injuries in boxing, its not always necessary if a boxers taking huge punishment and has no chance to win

Puh-leez. Margarito was in NO danger of getting killed in that fight. It's this sort of alarmist attitude that is RUINING the sport, leading to early stoppages. In my day, fans were PISSED when fights got stopped too soon. Now they beg for them to get stopped. It's insane!

It seems apparent that Roach is still (and rightfully so) upset with the Margarito camp mocking him about his parkinson's disease.

To me, the Margarito camp tended to act like a bunch of punks on 24/7.

There is NO DOUBT in my mind that after tonight Mr. 401 will have some health issues uptop after taking 401 shots to the head and over half if not all were power shots...IN ONE NIGHT!

just mind boggling how you supposedly worked on defense yet came out there like a pinata.

    Are you being intentionally idiotic?

There is a reason most fighters of those days died unusually early.

It must be nice to know that if you send your kid to Garcia to train......and your kid is Mexican.......he will NEVER protect his fighter!

That's complete bull****. Ever hear of Max Schmeling or Jack Sharkey? They lived to 100 and 91 respectively. What about Jake LaMotta. ****, he's STILL alive at nearly 90.

It's a load of crap that actually allowing fights to go to their natural conclusion results in people being killed at any higher rate, dying younger, etc. etc.

And besides, boxing's a dangerous business. Part of participating is accepting the risks. Fights should go to their natural conclusions.

He was taken to the hospital by ambulance right after the fight. They discovered a fractured orbital bone (eye socket) and will have to stay in the hospital until Sunday night.

 That is so true I understand that concept very well myself. Garcia I think was doing a good job communicating back and forth with his fighter, the phys, and the ref, but I think at one point he knows the fight is lost. It was just a matter of surviving and finishing. It is a fine line and probably Garcia wouldn't do it with any other fighter except Margarito who was known to endure alot. I still think highly of Garcia it must of been a very tough situation for him to handle. It would of been a very tough situation for anyone to handle.

It did seem like Pacquiao was more interested in Margarito's health than Garcia was...

Roach is absolutely right. Marg is done. I just hope he is not permanently damaged.

You guys don't realize how Margarito would have felt if Garcia threw the towel in. He would have felt betrayed.

It's the Mexican fight culture, and even if it doesn't make sense to us, it's very important to people like Margarito and Garcia. The very idea of throwing in the towel is blasphemy.
