Should Roy Jones get full credit for beating John Ruiz???

Whoever said no is an idiot. Props to the man moving up that much weight, winning a title and due to that move up in weight he had to watch his legacy fall apart.

 

DEnnis Andries was inhumanly strong , had courage by the bucket load and more heart than 3 generations of Mayweathers - to compare him with Ruiz is an insult.

After Hearns downed him several times manny steward was so impressed by his strength and bravery that he immediatley invited jim to join the Kronk stable which he did .

 

Roy Jones Jr. was the WBA Heavyweight Champion. true fact. records reflect this. sorry, just gotta deal with it like everything else.

Listen Jones does get credit for beating John Ruiz.

But all this making history in 100 years is just not true.

Jones is great, no doubt, but the Ruiz W is very overrated.

When it comes to people saying "PED's!", yes this too is very true, but it recently has been deemed by the boxing community as acceptable. Nobody looks at Toney's career differently. Nobody looks at Margarito's career differently. People refuse to do research. People simply do not care to know and do not care upon finding out either...

 

Was he lineal Champ no, but now you are getting into subjective material on what one considers a "champion"

Some consider a Champion; anyone with a major title.
A undisputed Champion; anyone with the majority of the major titles.

Some only consider a Champion as the Lineal Champion.. the man who beat the man system.. so like I said, subjective.

the middleweights that won the HW title in the ast were the no 1 fighter and the champion

I was on the old Secondsout.com forum back when the fight was first announced and the only member who thought that Jones wasn't mental was his biggest nuthugger, Reed.

Reed was like PacDaBest when Manny vs Oscar was announced.

Almost everyone thought Jones and Pac were going to get KTFO.
