No disrespect to Holyfield at all, but his name alone got him that shot at Valuev. He was coming off of lame wins over Saverese and a close win over Oquendo, as well as a one-sided loss to Iggy. Vitali was 3 and half years inactive and still got a shot. Austin has 0 quality wins to get a title shot to fight with Klitschko, just a draw over Iggy. Brewster was inactive for 15 months coming into there 2nd fight, and he was coming off a loss as well. In the division today it's all about your name, Briggs still has some what of a name, which is more than I can say for 90% of the rest of the division. What do you think has been keeping Golota alive all these years? The man hasn't been good since his fights with Bowe in 96, yet he's been geting title shots left and right, against Ruiz, Bryd, Brewster, etc... You go to Chicago, you would think he was Ali the way some people talk about him.
I agree, a tournament is what this division needs. I liked the last one. However, from what Bigcat has been telling me, it doesn't sound as though we will ever see Rahman fight again, at least not in the near future. He says that when he visited Rahman a few weeks ago, Rahman was on walking sticks and seemed to be having real bad hip problems or something like that. That doesn't sound good.
