So what changed in the last week to make Taylor quit the tournament? He got KO'd in a competitve fight. It happens. If people would have said he should never have been in the Super 6s then fair enough, but to say he should quit because of a, lets be honest, expected KO loss to Abraham is ridiculous. Going into this tournament I didn't think Taylor would win a fight (and I still don't) but once he made the decision to enter and fans accepted the entry then it should take more than a KO loss to make him pull out. What if Ward looks out of his depth against Kessler and Taylor? Shall we say he's too green for the Super 6 and pull him out of his last fight to save him further punishment? People are going win, lose and get KO'd in this tournament, the time to speak up with any problems was before the thing kicked off, not on the back of a KO in a boxing match.
Absolutely. Get out with some dignity and some brain cells. He won't ever be back on top, so no reason to stick around. I guess he could finish the tourney, just to say he did it.. but he has a much better chance of getting hurt than winning it.
Its not all about the KO its also about the fashion of the KO...and that KO was not like the others... I think any fighter who gets knocked out cold should take a lot of time off... People are not machines...you dont just get knocked stiff wake up and pick up where you stopped... There are physical and physchological changes that occur that have to be respected... Boxers are human...
I just hope he's fine ,the guy diserve respect. he wasn't outclass before his KO agains't AA even if i got AA in advance JT was doin fine. It's not the punch who hurt him most but the way his head clash on the canevas. He got money and fame maybe it will be better for him to call it off before it's too late!
Taking time off is fair enough and I know Taylor was hospitalized as a precaution but I don't think that KO on Saturday was that bad. Not enough to mean that Taylor should quit the tournament if he felt he had a chance of doing well when he entered (I always thought he would quite possibly end up with 3 losses out it though). Yep, you are right and I fully understand that, this isn't Fight Night on the XBox, these fighters real pepople but Taylor was an outsider and he got KO'd late in a good fight by arguably the hardest puncher in the Super 6, I don't think its enough to bail out on the tournament. Unless there are medical issues, if losing like that is enough reason to convince him (and others) that he should quit the Super 6 then perhaps he shouldn't have entered in the first place?
I think he should retire. 3 knockout losses in just over 2 years? And pretty severe knockouts. Could he still beat good guys? Yeah? Ward maybe. Dirrell? He could eek by a decision, but when a big enough puncher comes he will fade and be stopped again. What is the point. He came into this fight trying his best and in shape and still he was stopped. Yeah it was Arthur Abraham, but still he has been stopped too much lately. That cannot be good for him.
