How about this each round lasts till someone gets knocked down that boxer will have a certan amount of time to recover. Say :60? If he recovers and is able to box the next round the fight contunes. This will go on intell one boxer is unable to recover within the time given. At this point the boxer who was not koncked down shall be declared the winner.

The fight night 4 rule..it has promise

They did actually have something similar when boxing was in its infancy..whenever someone was knocked down the round would end..thats why they could go 20+ rounds.

In the old days, this was actually the preferred method. A fight was a fight and the person who had the advantage at the end of the fight deserved the decision, based no the fact that he was the more likely to win, if the fight continued. I am sure i read an article somewhere where Jack Dempsey suggested this was the best method to judge who won a fight.

It is interesting that there is so much support for liberal round scoring. Whenever a judge scores 10-8 rounds without knockdowns, there is massive controversy. I think Leonard Duran II was one of these occassions.

What about a modification of the Amateur scoring system as a method? Does this have any type of merit? Perhaps with 10 or 20 additional points for a knockdown, or maybe an option to score a scoring punch as 1 or more points depending on how hard it landed, maybe give a score of up to 5 for ring generalship at the end of each round, or defence or whatever. Is there any merit in such a drastic change being modified so that it becomes a better system.

The London Boxing Rules had just that and it was outlawed well before 1900.

I like this idea and proposed something similar on the other thread. To me the scores really tell the story of the fight. Griffith won pretty much every round, but it wasn't a blowout (but then, I don't have any knowledge of this particular fight, so I could be VERY wrong).
