There are not so many people interested in the Cruiserweight Division and many fighters in the division are leaving it now. Usyk has already left it. I still don't even know who the current World Champions at that weight class are. Besides, many fighters over there are starving to death now.
Hell no. It was great not long ago, usually stinks, but regardless, it is a GREAT training ground for heavies. Especially now that the limit is 200. And do you want guys who are 185-190 pounds fighting Fury and Joshua? Holyfield, Haye, and now Usyk all cut their teeth there, gaining invaluable experience and building themselves up physically? Adamek, Cunningham, Cooper, Banks...Why get rid of this valuable proving ground?
It's actually one of the better divisions imo, would be silly to get rid of it. may not have big interest in the US, but definitely has heaps of interest in Europe (I'd assume as most fighters are from Euro countries). Even with Usyk and Gassiev leaving, it's got plenty of good names. Also with the weight differential, it'd be impossible to absolve it into Heavyweight or Light-Heavyweight fairly at this stage
**** no. It's one of the best divisions in the sport and the only reason people aren't interested in it is because it's not showcased enough on network television. There's an easy remedy for that, showcase it more.
That would be Insane. Besides a "training ground for heavies", as stated you cannot basically throw away a 25 pound swing & have guys fight fairly at LHW or HW. 175-200 is a huge range & so common a weight as guys get bigger, why not get rif of say MW while you are at it? Besides that it often has been better than good & interesting to the whole world... Why would you even bother with weight classes if you are gonna avoid a fair standard for the second biggest guys?
Lemme get you updated Yunier Dorticos is IBF champion Ilunga Makabu is WBC champion Arsen Goulamirian is WBA champion WBO title is vacant atm It's still a badass division
When Usyk was there, atleast for me it was the most interesting, because of Ali trophy tournament. You dont get that at HW, where top guys are avoiding dangerous fights and boxer at their prime. And all the interest is just money, money, money.
Thanks for your info. but I hardly ever heard their names. IMO. There 's nothing much left there after Usyk has moved up in weight. I might be harsh on it. Sorry.
There's no reason whatsoever to get rid of CW. There are an abundance of guys that are simply too big for LHW but too small for HW. It is a necessary division. There should simply be an adjustment from LHW up through HW LHW: 185 lbs CW: 215 lbs HW: 216+ lbs
Yea I think a tad harsh. But your opinion man, you wont hear me bash anyone's opinion. But the cruiserweight division is still a strong division. Mairis Breides, Makabu, Dorticos, Mchunu, Glowacki, Lerena, Okolie, Cieslak. Non ring a bell with ya? Get on YouTube and check em out, might change your mind
Well I’d be screwed with no cruiserweight division as I fight at 91kg. To big for light heavy not quite big enough for Heavy.
You not having heard of their names means that you're ignorant, not that the division needs to be 'abolished.' Educate yourself and stop creating sh** threads with no justification.
Absolutely not. Cruiserweight division is better than HW sometimes. Cruiserweight is an essential division at this point and if we're talking about removing divisions I'd look at some of the light/super divisions in the lower weights instead.
