Should the ref have stopped this fight after the first knockdown? I think so. Rey did a dance that would have made Judah proud, and he was visibly on shaky, trembling legs when the ref waved the fight back on. He could have stopped it. What does anybody else think?

yes, it was boy vs man. mismatch all around.

but about the stoppage. in world title fights, refs tend to give the fighters more chances to fight back and rally. if it was a regular, non title fight, the ref would have stopped it on the first KD, but being a title fight, he wanted to give the downed fighter one last chance to fight back, turn the tide and maybe finish the round.

Boom Boom was shaken a lot more that Judah was in the Tzyu fight, but the ref let it continue. What do you think of this? It was pretty obvious to me that Rey was out on his feet and was a goner.

Yeah, he was drilled pretty hard. And I would have stopped it if I were the ref, but the ref was probably thinking if he stopped the fight, some people will say it was premature, that BoomBoom could have shaken it off and could have recovered well enough to finish the round. Bautista's just has too much machismo sometimes, thats why he gets into trouble. When he's hurt, he rarely clinches. He just fights back recklessly. And when he gets knocked down, he doesnt stay down long enough to get his equilibrium back. Stay down till the count of 8, kid?

It kinda goes both ways. If Joe Cortez simply waved off the fight after JMMarquez was KD 3 times in round one of the Pacman-Marquez fight, we wouldnt have seen Marquez come back and salvage a draw.

I say it shouldve been stopped in the first kd, Bautista is already lost from his senses. But it's just right decision for the ref to give Boomboom a chance if he could come back.

Damn, no wonder we all ***** about early stoppages, look at you guys.

I think it was stopped too early. He should of gave Bautista a chance to stand up after the 2nd KD, and if he was shaky then call it.

Watch the old timers fight, they let them get up every damn time until they couldn't. A lot of great fighters would of had more loses on their records if they called ever fight when someone looked shaky.

Let the guy have a chance to get back in the fight. It's boxing, not ping-pong.
