should the governing bodies force more fights?

Should the big 4, wbc wba ibf wbo force more fights to go through? Should they be more pro active in ensuring we stop having money driven mickey mouse defences?

Atm they pretty much sanction every fight just so they can pocket the fees.

Would this result in better fights, or would boxers just drop their belts in the future? Some say the belts mean **** all now anyway.

    What's your take?

i think so...now boxing is all left up to the promoters and all fighters care about is the $ in their wallet and the 0 losses on their record...they dont care to fight the best....most of them that is, we do have some rare exceptions

It would just be another way certain fighters get stripped of belts. I don't think a governing body forcing a fighter to fight a # of times would work. Which one would they follow? The WBO? WBA? What if one guy doesn't meet qualifications by another Org? Would just be a cluster**** IMHO.

they don't have their top 10s and 15s stacked with stars, so if they actually enforced their champions to defend against the contenders, they wouldn't make nearly as much money.

Yes Wlad and Vitali should of been forced to fight or give up the belts ages ago.

The only way these ABC's will be fixed is if the boxers first stop giving in to their every whim. Belts still mean a lot to them, and the networks still advertise "Champs" because it helps sell. First the boxers have to take a stance, then the networks need to follow suit. Sad to say, tall order that likely won't happen. I see boxing falling to complete **** before it's down enough to be rebuilt properly.

Why? Wlad is not ranked by the WBC so how can the WBC mandate Vitali fights someone not ranked by their org?

How can IBF,WBA,WBO enforce Wlad to fight Vitali, whose not ranked by any of the 3 orgs?

Maybe it applies mostly to the HW division, but I wouldn't mind seeing the governing bodies enforcing more fights.

For example with the Klitschkos, when it comes down to voluntary defenses they should not have to "go down the list" to say #10 or #15 before they find someone that is "ready" or available to take the fight. If a fighter is ranked and they are approached for a voluntary title shot, they should either be enforced to take it or lose/drop their rating.

Povetkin sitting the IBF #1 for 2+ years was ridiculous. I'm tired of seeing a majority of the fighters in the top 10 saying they "aren't ready" just because they already lost to a Klitschko or they are still green or whatever, and just trying to bide time until Vitali or Wlad declines.

I know TV networks picking up the fights is important, and if the bodies "forced" more fights, there would be less fights that the networks would buy and thats bad business. This complicates the matter, among other things.

But overall, I'd like to see the contenders take the title shots or participate in the eliminators/tournemants or get out of the the line.
