I reckon it should. the difference in weight between in light heavies and Heavie nowadays is like two full divisions. there is like nearly three stone between most heavies (at least. even more in most cases) and light heavies thats like the difference between Super featherweight and Middleweight
No it's tradition. Remember, light heavyweight is an original weight class, cruiserweight came along a long time after.
i take back what i said. light heavies are as important to boxing history as any other weight class. it would be terrible to see it become junior junk
Superheavyweight in the Amateurs has been around a long time, and eliminated the need for a "cruiserweight amateur" division. Plus the amateurs add a 2-3 pounds in a lot of divisions and minimize "jr." divisions. Historically you can name many of the great pro Lightheavies, too much tradition...don't mess with it.
Great, we need more weight classess:rofl sarcastic and more welters that fight over 160 at fight time:| atsch
No no no no noooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The light heavyweight division is a great historic division with a rich history. It stands for Bob Fitzsimmons, Jack Dillon, Tommy Loughran, Maxie Rosenbloom, Billy Conn, Archie Moore, Michael Spinks. You would have to be a man without a soul to change its name.
The cruiserweight division should be called the super light-heavyweight division if any chnage was to be made. As has been mentioned the light-heavyweight division started decades before the cruiserweight division.
