Agree, I think it's better to merge some of the divisions.
I think that dehydration will done less if there are less divisions and more margin.
A seperation between Heavy and Super Heavy like in the amateurs ... definitely no!

But will a power-puncher at 105 carry his power all the way to 108? :think

No it would just create another cruiserweight division where there is little interest. You'd also get even more fighters bulking up through muscle and fat to get to super heavyweight and the extra money it brings.

There would be naturally smaller fighters that don't want to or unable to move up which means you'd dilute the quality of the super heavyweight division you have created. This era has been bad enough, can you imagine how bad it would have been if smaller fighters like Haye, Adamek, Chambers, Povetkin, Glazkov, Perez, Chagaev, Ibragimov, Brewster, Brock, Byrd, Jennings etc were not competing at this new super heavyweight division.

Once Wlads gone i see this as been less of a problem because all the other big men in the division could be beaten by smaller guys its just Wlad uses his physical advantages and his superiority makes it look unfair.

IMO id bring the cruiserweight limit up to 210 and call it heavy weight , drop the now cruiserweight limit to 195 and have a new weight class between light heavyweight and cruiserweight because at the moment theres a 25 pound differance between light heavy and cruiser which is ridiculous

Too many weightdivisions already. Too many belts, too many 'champions'.

Not enough decent challengers for the current champ now, so splitting will make that worse.

In the 90's there were two Super Heavies on top, yet nobody wanted a seperation then because they had the 'right' nationality.

If the 'little' HW's want a title then go to CW. Relatively easy to make without same day weighin.

Wlad will retire within a couple of years and then we would get guys like Fury, Wilder and a couple of overweight bums fighting for that title.

There are more reasons, but I think you get the picture.

I agree with you on the most part, but the arguement about too many weight divisions applys to the lower weights where there can be only 3-4 pounds seperating a division.

In the case of Light -heavy to cruiser theres a 25 gap, thats way too much.

Theres always been giants in the heavyweight division as big as the Klitchkos but because they get so much hate ,people are always thinking of ways to marginalize them

Cruiserweight used to be 190, and now it is 200lbs.
I would favor a bump to 205 for that division.

The UFC model with 8 weight classes would be best IMO, but it would never happen because none of the alphabelt organizations want to lose sanctioning fees that they get from having "championship" bouts.
Many purists wouldn't go for it either because when discussing all time great welterweights at 147, and 170 would be too confusing.

I think it's funny that we have like 2lbs. between every weight class until we get to the separation between LHW, and CW. There is a 25lb. gap!, an the Average HW is 220 making another 20+ gap if you want to be competitive in that division nowadays! lol.

Aside from the UFC model that will never happen, we could bump CW to 205, and make a division in between (185-190?), and the alphabelt org's will love it. haha.

There are problems with every solution suggested in this thread, and that includes leaving it the way it is.
