While Cotto did better than I thought he would since he survived till the final bell, this was sufficiently decisive as to render a rematch a waste of time.

Cotto did better than I thought he would, too, although I did think he'd likely see the final bell. What surprised me most about Cotto was, strangely enough, he seemed to have better stamina over the course of 12 full rounds than I ever recall seeing from him before - his matches with Margo x2, Shane, Clottey, Trout, and Floyd being the ones that all jump to mind where he exhibited the need for more breathers rounds 7-10ish.

No need for a rematch. The purpose of this fight was to pass on that middle weight title and make as much money i the process. Cotto is clearly too small to inflict any viable damage to a full middleweight. He can go back to 154, I doubt he can make 147 comfortably, get one more title and go rest on his millions.

Clearly his chin is not as weak as most here would like to think. After this fight, I truly believe that a Freddie Roach trained and conditioned Cotto from the start, would have been boxing wrecking ball.

Not just no but HELL NO!!!!!!!!! Canelo HAS to defend against Golovkin at 160 limit or be stripped a & humiliated a la pretty in pink COTTO would have been. Boxing has to put a stop to these ludicrous catchweights. Boxing has lost credibility as a legitimate sport & its so easy to see why:patsch:patsch

    No.

Cotto needs to hang them up. Do people want to see a 35 year old Cotto end up with brain damage?

Canelo would probably stop him next time. Pointless fight.

People get old. Nobody lives forever. One day everyone on this thread will be old unless they don't make it there.

You will understand that you are not the same. Keep that in mind when you make your decisions. Keep that in mind when you set an example for these youths.
