We all know Canelo is far too big to fit into 154. He thus fights at 155. Because he is a) Mexican b) popular c)American , he gets a pass by a lot of fans. The argument here is that since he is A SIDE, he gets to pick the weight. Since that seems to be acceptable to "boxing fans" why don't we institute weight classes based on A-Sides?

Ward is highly ranked p4p and is undefeated, which makes him A-side to many fighters. His preferred weight is 172. Lets make a 172 lb division.

Canelo is currently fighting at 155 lb division but he is getting bigger and older. We need to stay open minded for 156 lb and 157 lb divisions in the near future.

If Haye makes his comeback a success, he will be an A - side to any fighter except possibly Wladimir. Lets make a Hayevyweight division, 220 lb, and make all his opponents come in at 220 lbs.

What do you think? I got in touch with WBC, they are currently in the process of making a sapphire belt, for just such an occasion.

Will GGG fight Ward at 164 still? He is A-Side because 97,000 PPV buys are De La Hoya numbers to his fans.

Maybe they can make a cubic zerconium belt for Canelo and the pyrite encrusted belt for Haye's division?

Of course not. That u grateful basted cleverly manipulated the boxing rules and created a 160 lb division, since he is most comfortable at 160.

Most important part of the process isn't even the material of the belt, but strict enforcement of the rules. Cubic zirconium belt implies at most two blatant violations of the rules per month, 3 of you are Mexican. The pyrite encrusted belt comes with a mandatory sky ppv rights.

    Huh?

And unofficially, there is already something like that. It's called Caneloweight. But no, I don't think there should be anything like that. The WBC/WBA/IBF etc should enforce the mandatories or get stripped. Simple as that. Why make belts with no meaning just cause a few fighters can't or won't move to the weight class they should be in?
