I've just watched a little of his fight with Tony Thompson, and I wasn't particularly excited one way or another with either of them.

Timur's only had a couple of losses, but they were both to very highly skilled and highly rated boxers. (again, I wasn't very impressed with what I've seen from Thompson).

I he and Sergei, and Nicolay, all in the same boat. Undecided. Are they potential superstars who've had a hitch and just need to hit their stride? Or have we seen their best and just need to relegate them to the journeyman status they deserve?

    Thoughts? Input?

Timor could go from being an ordinary fringe contender to a contender if he gets a few decent wins under his belt. Doubt he'd win a title, but you never know in today's HW division.

My first thought is that I find it odd that you see potential in Ibragimov but are unimpressed with Thompson who beat him soundly. You seem to be giving the Euro HW's the benefit of the doubt despite strong evidence the other way in some cases. Why would their losses just be hitches, but someone like Thompson doesn't make your radar?

I can see your point, KG. Let me clarify. It isn't Thompson's

that don't impress me. Far from it. He's got to be good to be rated where he is. It's just his

that doesn't appeal to me. He seems to be a good boxer with an ugly style. Along the lines of John Ruiz, or Sultan Ibragimov.

And certainly, a loss should be considered only a "hitch" if it remains only one or two. Same with Thompson.

Yes, Timur should be written off. He doesn't impress me. Thompson is much, much better.

Timur fights not to lose rather then fighting to win which usually makes for very boring fights.

Gotcha. Thompson is boring but effective. I think Sultan is clearly the better brother in this situation.

With Valuev, I have no idea how good he really is. Hard to tell. Honestly I thought Ruiz beat him.

From what I heard, they're not related. They just have the same surname.

Timur Ibragimov , if that is even his real name , is the Slavic Audley Harrison. He dont fight with any heart.

Yes. I watched the Thompson & Brock fights and was nearly bored to tears. I can honestly tell you that I am more interested in watching John Ruiz right now, because he is at least a legit contender. Timor is most definitely just a journeyman.

Well put, he's a safety first fighter who hardly commits to any punches. He's still a slight contender though but another loss or 2 and he's a gatekeeper like Guinn. I think Guinn would beat him if I had to bet.

I see since his Brock loss, Timur has strung together three wins, one being against Timo HOffman.

He may yet work himself into a decent gatekeeper type fighter, who looms around the lower top 15, but that'd be the most I would expect of him, if that.
